Well guys its 9:20pm. work starts @ 6:00am tomorrow. My boyfriend is playing hockey tonight, last week he took a puck to the neck! he talks normal again I get the sick humor from Dad! Good Night guys. Erin

Good Morning Gurus! Red eye from Germany to Ohare in Chicago, jet lag is kicking in big time. Business trip was good, I was ready to use my high school German but really wasn't needed. 98% of the people I met in Germany loved Americans, ran across a few attitudes but you'll find that anywhere. Drove a Porsche Hybrid Friday afternoon! interesting concept "sport hybrid". Autobahn is unbelieveable! costs a fortune for a drivers license in Germany, anyway the host of our group took me out for a afternoon drive, he had an Audi A8, nice! he was doing 135 mph and we were being passed as if we were standing still.
Hope everyone is well! Did Matt have an addition to his family yet?

Good evening guys! I haven't had a chance to post. Busy working 12-14 hour days. Not burned out yet! Eating pizza with my parents. Been driving my Fusion lately ZO6 is in the garage. Had an incident Sunday night when I was being followed and harassed by some misguided youth. I couldn't remember my high school spanish at the moment but it sounded kinda bad. Lost them and put the car in the garage. I don't need a confrontation when I'm this tired. OK guys take good care of yourselves. Please note dad is still trying to post pics. This old gateway is a mess. Mom won't let him touch her Acer! No comment guys Erin

Thanks for the comment about dad! Erin

It's a business. IB owns lots of sites. People get pissed off when things change. Fact is, the business model works. IB stock has gone up consistently the past 18 months.

When IB took over both sites, thirden.org and corvetteforum.com, both lost a few tech guys. But both also lots a bulk of the idiots, some of which worshipped and followed the good tech guys. They still have some strong tech folks like LD85, PeteK whom also moderates thirdgen.org, mseven, and tequilaboy.

I don't remember why Andy got banned. I know CC got banned frankly because he was baiting them. The mocking IB avatar was the 'last straw' if I recall.

You also can't piss off the owner. I don't agree with 99.9% of what Andy says tech wise, but if I spent all day calling him out what type of warm welcome should I expect on here?

So.. Joe I'm confussed.. you don't agree with 99.9% of what Andy says tech wise. I have gotten 100% good advise tech wise. These guys know their vettes and don't mind helping any rookie with a challenge, I doubt if CF would be so open minded with some of the things I asked. Just like my dad I getting wound up here. Hum..... enjoy the forum, sorry its been a long day, I'm taking my colllie and going home. Erin.

Another 12 hour day tomorrow. It would be nice not to travel for awhile. Anyway have a great night! When I drove up to my parents house dads got the garage all torn up and cleaning. hum... maybe midlife crisis

I remember the oil filter post! Regarding the oil color, I think I will run it another thousand miles and if it is cleaning the Amsoil deposits out it will just clean that much more! Does that sound right!! Erin

Just checked the oil in the ZO6 no oil burning but oil is black. Dad changed oil from Amzoil to Mobil1 extended life. I'm sure the detergents are dispursing the Amsoil built up. However its a little troubling to see it. Do you think I should change oil again. I have about 1100 miles on last change. Just bought 3 jugs of Mobil 1 @ WalMart! scary place! Dad has always used Wix oil filters and K&N. Are Frams any good? I know I'm asking a lot of questions!! Thanks Erin

Andy I think when I posted that I was thinking why the relationship of 0-60.why not 0-100. Honestly never thought about about car and driver. I always felt that since the automotive companies were paying advertsing dollars with the magazine they wouldn't get an objective review, or is that too subjective! Erin

I almost forgot to ask this question! I went to an old air strip about a mile and half from my parents house. The locals (dads hot rod buddies) have a 1/4 marked out with a homemade very sophicated timing system. My boyfriend kept 0-60 times of 5.3, 4.9,4.6,4.3,3.7,3.3 and 4.0. I never shifted out of first. Are those good times! We could not acquire the 1/4 with out the guys there to hook stuff up. What can be expected in a 1/4 mile.
I see a timing ticket that my dad has for his 55 chevy of
9.96 @ 140.11 is that a good time?
I have seen drag racing but unsure of the expectations of a 1/4 mile and time. Road course racing seems more challenging.

Good Evening Guru's Purdue needs to work on their passing game! Marve the Purdues Quarter back needs to settle down when in the pocket, Notre Dame looked good a few mistakes but hey its the first game. I'm fixing Mom and Dad dinner after his day of diving. Met a ND fan from Redondo Beach that works in Torrence, Cal.and a guy from Sweden. What did they have in Common you Ask besides ND Football! Corvettes of course. Neat.
Ah Mom and Dad are home now! I hate when he does recovery work, I'm always concerned he's gonna get hurt.
Tomorrow no work planning a trip to Michigan Wine country. Since the area has the same growing climate as Italy their wines are not bad. They are known for their Poinot grapes.
Well guys gotta mash potatoes and finish the baked steak. Have a wonderful night and great weekend. Erin

Pretty neat for a 28 yr old.

Really sounds like she has her act together. She sounds a lot like my daughter and my son as well. A corvette friend broke his tires loose going into 4th gear (C5Z06) and spun out. Bad thing for him was he was at Atlanta Dragway and spun it into the wall at the track. It was his first and of course last pass at the strip. No insurance so he spent two years and a ton of money repairing it - r front and then spun and put the rear into the wall as well. Glad Erin is being carefull.

I grew up poor!(alcoholic parents) Had to work hard for everything I got. Erin has it made but she had to work and appreciate what hard work and responsibility she has to her self to succeed. Andy this kid has her stuff together like your children! I see so many spoiled kids that dad gives them vettes or porsches do they really appreciate the car. Hell no they don't! First thing they want to do is drop money into the car they don't have. Or worse yet they have a family and forget their responsibilities to their family and buy shit for their car. Sorry Andy beginning to rant.

Ever tried growing in a house hold where your Dad and Mom are teachers, and your Dad an x Navy SEAL. . Couldn't get away with anything! We had a botched home invasion at our old house and I swear Dad was having fun with the three intruders. All three where in tears and one wet his pants. Tom I'm so sorry to hear about your sistor in law, its a terrible thing when a human being has to reach to those extreme measures to find peace. I would venture to say that all of us know someone close to us that have turned to suicide to quiet the pain. The loved ones left behind are the ones we need to hold on to and reassure.

I'm glad the Big 10 added the Cornhuskers. In order for the Big 10 to become competitive again and regain the "glory days" they had to do this. Nebraska has always been tough and brings to the table a refreshing aggressive passing game that we are lacking in the Big Ten. As a Purdue grad I was getting a litttle burned out at the same defense and offensive strategies. Nebraska,Texas,Oklahama excellent outside running...opps this doesn't sound very feminine does it! I was a cheerleader once and prom queen. Erin

I noticed that the Michelan Pilots seem to pick up a lot of fine debris,i.e. fine stones or fine gravel, comes off easy. Is this due to the tread compound on a hot day at high speeds. It was well over 95 degrees yesterday on black top.
Tires seem fine now! Should this be a concern?? Erin

Good Evening guys! I haven't had a chance to post or run. Just finished my 8.6 mile run. Humid, Notre Dame's Campus is hyped for their first game against PURDUE. My PURDUE sweats drew a few stares. Put on 403 miles on the ZO6 ran perfect yesterday. Just turned 169K. Zero problems. I 94 was crazy, the speeds these semis run is scary. At one point I was surrounded by semis and started to wonder if they knew I was down there running along side of them. I picked up 3 more vettes in a mini caravan. We all stopped in Battle Creek to gas up and much to my surprise all business women. One was a little"bitchieeee", the others were cool, talked cars and our individual business.
The really impressive part of the drive is the night glow of the dash lights.
I'm at my parents washing the car and getting all the bug guts off the nose. Plus I'll get a free dinner.
My neighbor at my house is a GM body man and tells me a quick spray of clear coat will fix my hazy fender spot.
Talk to you later. Erin

I have an 07 ZO6. I have spent more time going through every inch of this beast and my feeling is the car, chassis, and engine are so well engineered and layed out that any mods made could post a code. Mine has 168K with no codes. With only 12K I wouldn't think ECM or bad cats would be an issue. I have a bad habit of tearing into things to see how they work and I have noticed wiring and sensors going to and coming from the "air box" if modified and wires were not replaced or not placed in the right position would create a problem.
By no means am I an expert but I'm very observant. With the Corsa exhaust I would assume an already brute sound is even more audible.
Were the mufflers put on with proper inlet and outlet passages for exhaust gas?
Since it did not through codes before the mods see if mods were installed right. Erin

I figured it out! ATF absorbs heat very well, so the trans and rear end when being stressed the fliud will dissipate heat faster and more efficent than gear lube. Sorry I was in a "zone" when I posted! that does make sense right!
I still wonder if I should use synthetic ATF?

I'm thinking it might be a factory flaw that has become noticable over its short life. Its never been garaged so uv damage could be a factor. I doubt if dad will post tonight the school board meeting is suppose to be long and drawn out.

Good evening Bill. Its not growing any bigger and I follow with what I think is 3000 grit, then use a porter cable DA polisher with 3M light compound followed buy polish, sealer than carnauba wax.
I have seen a few chemical spills on paint and I'm wondering if some sort of "hot" chemical i.e lacquer thinner, or caustic cleaner.
Its probably just me! I need to get really close to see it! its lighter and dull.
Dads at a school board meeting tonight or I would ask him, Geez I hope he behaves!

I have transmssion cooling lines running to a cooler in front and it looks like it runs to the rear end. Transmission is a 6sp manual, and it has ATF in it. It looks clean but why ATF? andthere is a filter. Tremec 60 something can't make out the rest of the number or numbers.
The layout and design suggests that the fluid lines from trans and rear end cool fliud during hard driving or track use. Wow! I need a service manual not a Haynes.
Should I drain and fill with synthetic?

Good Evening Gurus. I'm in the process of waxing the vette. I noticed on the front passager fender a softball size hazy spot. Dull but not "comes out and grabs you dull"its just there like a zit. I tryed 2,000 grit wet sand the area, no effect.
I would assume maybe the clearcoat has broken down in some way and the base coat is oxidizing.
Have any of you had this experience and if so how did you correct it short of repainting.
Thanks Erin

Hi Check for vacuum leaks, faulty fuel pressure regulator, and EGR located under the plenium. To check fuel pressure you will need a fuel pressure gauge that threads into the schrader valve on the fuel rail. Pressure should read 39 psi. I have gone through this with my dads 87. He had a couple vac hoses cracked and a bad fuel pressure reg. Hope this helps. Erin

Thanks, experience will teach me the dynamics of the chassis and suspension geometry. I think I can feel it when I'm in the "zone" while driving. Knowing the limits. I notice that any little hard acceleration the rear end whats to brake lose. Brute force being controled by a small tire contact patch. Erin

Actually that term is what happens on corner entry after initial turn in. The suspension loads the outboard side of the car and the car rolls to that side somewhat, that side of the car moves down while the suspension (a-arms) move up. When it stops moving (rolling) that's the chassis taking a set. Feeling when this happens makes it easier to know when you can apply the power. It's a relatively simple thing and most drivers have never thought about it. Most get it and start to feel it when it's explained. Just one of the little things that reduce lap times. Thinking about usually reduces the amount of coasting that newer drivers do in the corners.
It is also part of "Slow in, Fast out" concept.

In other words if you can't feel the set and power out of the corner to quick your rear end wants to catch up to the front end, thus spinning out. Close? Erin

Tommy: Erin is talking about BiilH,SpectatorRacing, and the whole group and road racing. I think later on today she's going to e-mail Jon regarding learning how to drive on a course. OMG what have I created! She would probably pretty good at it. Competitve and energentic. At 27 there is no stopping her.

I try to bust tommy's chops in every other post.

I spent 3 hours on track yesterday in a C5 Z06 with a guy who had just bought it the day before, had no clue about track driving. He was fast by the end of the day.

Erin would do good, she knows more about cars than 90% of my students. If i explained how the chassis takes a set in a corner, she'd understand. Most of my students would just look at me with their mouth open.

The problem with CF was that they were bought out by a corporate entity. That meant their owner and admin left, and the men he had running the show already, were now poised to do the same thing without any guidance. They lost their check and balance.

I was one of four that was banned that day - CentralCoaster and JeffVette two of the others; at the same time, a 4th was banned, but he has moved on to building vintage hot rods.

The bottom line? They were more concerned with us complaining than with the content we were generating. If I complained at a rate of 10 messages per 100, that is a lot. But to them, the 3 or 4 challenges to their authority was more than they could tolerate.

So they banned us and absolutely gutted the C4 Tech area of its brain trust.

Good for us bad for them. I see a lot of people lose their way and then focus. Lot of egos get in the way of good sound practice and judgement. I would think that if people with credability complained then there must be validity to the stated problem. So the bottom line is they never learned to listen!
Thanks for the comment about dad! Erin
