oh ya, most interested. got Simon McBeaths book here, "Competition car Downforce",, it's dated. So much is recently done undercar. Effects are logarithm increased in ground effect. I must laugh when see wings on low speed cars. Only drag. My experience, wing effects work 130+mph. Downforce can be generated lowspeed, but drag co/efficients, counterproductive. C4 still most neg pressure co/efficient aero car. improvements, I believe. Undercar. My thoughts.

I blew a couple tires outside Laredo while back. 04:00, kept goin', figured I only one out there without an ak. nothing much left of wheels. took poor kid hours to grind wheels off. It's all good. From Danmark I got the name Stig. Friends that know me, just call me sig. Looking forward to developing aero work on C4. really got all power. Girl won't ride in her. Hi guys, been awhile. Out here on the road. These 18wheels keep turnin'.. got robbed in Dallas. Lost my computer, phones such. Getting re/grouped. Co. Does not allow self protection. Anyway, haven't forgot my Vette friends. Go by Bollin Green all the time, just never seem to find time to stop. But I will!! Pics and all from museum. Moved my home terminal to Memphis. Walked over to Graceland. What a trip. Have lots of ideas with aero work. Not quite ground effects, but undercar flow. Sketching up some ideas, in truck stops. already gettin ready winter. Mountains always interesting. Old Vette safe sound in Minnesota garage. Anyway, my thoughts are towards undercar aero/flow. Checking out new Saleen undercar.. not so much downforce, more pressure changes. H/L pressure. So anyway. Typing on new S4. Truck stop il. Like I said: "I be Back", best.

Well it's been awhile. Finally home. I just read a post about a wrecked C4. Driving in wet with slicks. Reminds me of my move back here to St.Paul last fall. I went out early Sunday am. for final AX. of season in MN. Of course I haven't driven here in 35 years. It was cold, but appeared dry. So I drove to track on 335" shaved slick Kumho V700's. It was only suppose to be a 10 minute drive. Of course the city was totally cut in half by a marathon. I had to detour all the way downtown, and a wonderful interchange called Spaghetti Junction. I went downhill Summit hill sideways and right into it. The guy behind honking, lucky the top was off, so I could properly signal him. I was attempting to check the GPS. but my attention was more on keeping car on the road. So I got lost on a freeway going the wrong way. It seems there was still a little frost on the road. I don't believe I hit more than 45mph. And that was ice drifting' .. An hour later, completely stressed, I made the stadium. Missed the drivers meeting, went right on course first. No idea of the course or condition. It was small and shitty'.. full of old gravel & frost. I hit the timing light start sideways, great way to begin. Then slaloms tank slapping virtually out of control. I tried a second time, but decided better not to run over spectators, in the words of Bob Marley "He that fight and run away, live to fight another day" .. Lesson: I should never have gone out that day' .. I was very lucky to get home in one piece that day. Hopefully spring will come soon' .. Pic' view from backyard, snow melting. And view from front seat in Wyoming: 50to70mph. winds. I pulled over that night. Have some fun video from Galaxy S3 dashcam .. looking for place to upload, not YouTube, any ideas .. Free is best.

So you noticed' .. That's a poster pic' for the 2013. A new automatic. I been running an old 2009, just getting broken in, only 1 million miles on her. Thats pic' in Washington sunrise just before loading apples & crossing Cascades. Eaton 12 speed, actually standard 8 speed with 4 split gears 5-8. Really nice for fine tuning. These newer transmissions are really sweet' .. totally bullit/proof. Float the shifts, only time I touch clutch is starting & stopping. Big Turbo, hardly notice the elevations. I currently have an HTC Incredible 4G. It's similar spec wise to the Galaxy S III but it doesn't have the monster sized screen...I still prefer them in the 4" range.

Way better than I even imagined. In the truck the Galaxy realtime 3D.Nav.GPS. is light years ahead of the current Garmin units. Totally Mind-Blowing' .. and literally millions of ap's available. For Purposes' Ap's like "Trucker tools" http://www.truckertools.com/ .. A free Application that does so much for us. List truck stops w/current fuel prices, weigh stations, routing & fuel optimization, permits & IFTA for all states which be completed before we even arrive at the port of entry & is DOT. legal. A scanner AP. that scans a load on dock before being loaded, calculating weights and such, which I can send data to Corporate realtime. Galaxy'SIII Mounted as dash/cam can read license plates of the asshole that cuts me off and creates an accident. To many possibilities to even begin to mention. The Verizon G4-LTE is the largest network. Ten times more coverage than AT&T, and all others combined. 'Tmobile' has no coverage at all' .. Better than Star-Trek!!, I looked on Amazon dot com, they wanted $899 for GS'III, got it for $199 with Verizon. Worth every dime, even at $1,000+. I know the active GPS. will save my life!.

Response to Reno, post #24 ..
"Human beings only have two ways to deal with one another: reason and force.

If you want me to do something for you, you have a choice of either convincing me via argument, or force me to do your bidding under threat of force.

Every human interaction falls into one of those two categories, without exception. Reason or force, that's it.

In a truly moral and civilized society, people exclusively
interact through persuasion.

Force has no place as a valid method of social interaction, and the only thing that removes force from the menu is the personal firearm, as paradoxical as it may sound to some.

When I carry a gun, you cannot deal with me by force. You have to use reason and try to persuade me, because I have a way to negate your threat or employment of force.

The gun is the only personal weapon that puts a 100-pound woman on equal footing with a 220-pound mugger, a 75-year old retiree on equal footing with a 19-year old gang banger, and a single guy on equal footing with a carload of drunk guys with baseball bats. The gun removes the disparity in physical strength, size, or numbers between a potential attacker and a defender.

There are plenty of people who consider the gun as the source of bad force equations.

These are the people who think that we'd be more civilized if all guns were removed from society, because a firearm makes it easier for a [armed] mugger to do his job.

That, of course, is only true if the mugger's potential victims are mostly disarmed either by choice or by legislative fiat--it has no validity when most of a mugger's potential marks are armed.

People who argue for the banning of arms ask for automatic rule by the young, the strong, and the many, and that's the exact opposite of a civilized society. A mugger, even an armed one, can only make a successful living in a society where the state has granted him a force monopoly.

Then there's the argument that the gun makes confrontations lethal that otherwise would only result in injury.

This argument is fallacious in several ways. Without guns involved, confrontations are won by the physically superior party inflicting overwhelming injury on the loser.

People who think that fists, bats, sticks, or stones don't constitute lethal force watch too much TV, where people take beatings and come out of it with a bloody lip at worst.

The fact that the gun makes lethal force easier works solely in favor of the weaker defender, not the stronger attacker. If both are armed, the field is level.

The gun is the only weapon that's as lethal in the hands of an octogenarian as it is in the hands of a weight lifter.

It simply wouldn't work as well as a force equalizer if it
wasn't both lethal and easily employable.

When I carry a gun, I don't do so because I am looking for a fight, but because I'm looking to be left alone.

The gun at my side means that I cannot be forced, only persuaded. I don't carry it because I'm afraid, but because it enables me to be unafraid. It doesn't limit the actions of those who would interact with me through reason, only the actions of those who would do so by force.

It removes force from the equation... and that's why
carrying a gun is a civilized act."

wow! well put. Do not know if you read my response (Short Story) here #37. Anyway, few obviously learn from history. As I mention: 'FACT'. Hitler invaded and took Denmark in 1 DAY in 1939. All guns were registered with 'POLICE'. First thing the Nazi's did? They went to the 'POLICE STATIONS' and then to all gun owning households,, disarmed the entire nation .. arrested citizens, many never returned. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0920458/ Of course this is not little Denmark, they are going to find it very difficult to disarm citizens here in USA'. It won't be like Kent State when National Guard Troops shot to death unarmed college students .. http://youtu.be/vyzoNCJvy4c

Oh brother, ain't that the truth! A few years ago I gave up all my guns, plinkers like my Mini14, 3030, 357mag. Beretta etc. Because of an innocent misunderstanding, which escalated to full blown Swat assault on my house. I was nice though and offered them coffee. Anyway, all my guns were unloaded & locked down. But still quite embarrassing in front of all my neighbors, being forced onto my knees, cuffed with hands on head, middle of street in front of my house. I am sure that at least a couple of my neighbors found it amusing. Lucky for me, all was resolved amicably when the president of our local Corvette Club showed up, he also just happened to be 'Captain of Santa Barbara S.W.A.T. So anyway, to make a short story long .. All political bs. aside, 'I'm agnostic', I got a queezy feeling in my gut when 'O' got elected .. Oh, here we go again. "Gun Control". To elaborate, I am from Denmark. Denmark always had very strict gun controls. In 1939 Germany rolled into Denmark in 1'day, as all guns in Denmark had to be registered w/Police .. The very first thing the Nazi's did was go to the Police Stations, find all gun owners in Denmark. Many were arrested .. unfortunately some never returned. My dad never liked guns. Later he and my grandfathers, uncles, fought in the 'Underground Movement' .. minor things, like blowing up trains, assassinations,. There is a recent gritty & compelling Danish Film, non-fiction, based upon very real characters and events of the underground movement circa WWII. I really think everyone should see, "Flame & Citron" .. As history tends to repeat itself. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0920458/ .. Ok, anyway, like I said, a short story. There is another old axiom: "Never bring a knife to a gunfight" .. Which now brings me full circle. With the anti-gun sentiment growing, more restrictions etc. I decided I didn't want to be the only one at the party without one. So awhile back I decided to get something small and comfortable, w/adequate stopping power .. http://www.sigsauer.com/catalogproductlist/pistols-p226.aspx .. "Wrong, I actually got the P229", I figured if it's good enough for Seal Teams, should work for me. So anyway, some call folks like us, conspiracy wako's .. I prefer to see myself as a student of history. I do not believe the middle east presents real and present danger. It's all bs. smoke and mirrors to cover the real assault. Here at home. HaHa' .. Oh Ya' .. Years ago I was towing my C4 from MN. back to Cali. I entered a steep uphill onramp to freeway in Montana, totally missed the big guy hammering uphill .. He blasted his airhorn and proceeded to chew me a new asshole, my CB. was on. When he finally chilled, I said: "sorry there big guy, I totally f_cked up .. didn't see ya" .. Then he laughed. We spent the next 100+miles chatting about Corvettes & 18 wheelers. Really, sometimes you meet the most interesting folks on the road. So far I have yet to find a better option than Samsung Galaxy SIII .. The big screen is the biggest+. I had ATT&T since early analog days, but mostly in SoCal. Almost flawless service. Not so sure about nationwide compared to Verizon? I can tell you from recent experience, having towed my C4 from Santa Barbara Ca. back to old home in St.Paul MN. in Aug. Tmobile totally 'sucked'. So I guess it is really coming down to carrier, ATT&T or Verizon. But no decision yet, "Hammer On"

Thanks Brother, First time in a month I have time to research. Kickin' it in motel with cable, micro, bath, laundry, heat, internet kinda, feels like heaven to me right now. These wi/fi connections suck big time. My old 1995 Windows laptop was faster/reliable than this sheiit. Already exceded bandwidth here, so they limited me, no pic's etc. The new phones have new internet connections faster home base, connects laptop at high speeds also. All our trucks are equipped w/Qualcom satellite computers. But primarily for business. Currently my 1st. choice is Samsung Galaxy SIII. All have trade/offs. But Galaxy has the biggest screen, a real plus when driving. http://reviews.cnet.com/samsung-galaxy-s3-review/ .. A few nights back I went over Cascade Range, Washington; "Elevation: "14,409' (4,392 m)" at night in White/out, thick black ice & 55+wind gusts. Went through Wybloming & Idaho, all in 10.75hrs. time - monitoring 2 GPS. units & Qualcom. As you can imagine, miss a downshift or two, w/80,000lb. tractor/trailer .. 'certain death'. iPhone screen to small to see.

I find it hard to believe CF would allow that sort of BS. Yours is a good example of wrong priorities. And if you can believe, my most recent excursion & 3mo. ban from CF. forum was done by a female moderator' .. my comment in the thread was like "Hawk brakes grab like a S.O.B", my first 6mo. ban was for exposing 'Nitto Tire Co.' new corp. sponsor, posting misleading threads acting as C4 owners (not Vendors) leading to Phishing site, requesting all kinds of personal information. Back in old Denmark we had a saying " They can kiss me where sun don't shine" actually, I think that was Shakspeare, before he wrote Hamlet.

HaHa' ..

Ok, to follow up' .. I moved back to Minnesota after 35 yrs. in SoCal. First thing I did was join COM. "Corvettes of Minnesota". http://www.corvettesofmn.com/ .. Officially the first Corvette Club in the country. It is now small club, but best is I am younger member 'HeHe' .. Formed 1960.

A few of us guys still race. Bill H. (President) was 3d. NCCC last I heard, fun for a bunch of old guys. Feel free to join us at COM. You don't have to live in Minnesota.!!

OK, when I first arrived back in MN. (Sept) I raced with local clubs at small autocross at Midway Stadium. First all roads were closed to stadium in am. So I ended up downtown St. Paul. Mind you it was 32ยบ early am. I was on slicks. I was trying to check GPS. and a guy pulled up behind me and honked. Lucky top was off, so I could signal him .. Just one Finger.'

I ended up at spaghetti junction, on freeway wrong way. Anyway, I found Midway stadium, late for drivers meeting. My group was first up. So I had no idea of course. I took off through timing lights and went sideways. Small and slick even without the ice.

Imagine my surprise when the announcer said I needed a driving instructor' .. Lucky for me Don from COM was there. We laughed and I tried to find course, but 400+hp. on slicks on ice and small parking lot, Crikey" .. Oh, it was my B-Day night before, imagine my hang-over. Rather than run over spectators .. I retired.

So anyway, to make a long story short.' I was embarassed to say the least, but Don and I were able to laugh at it!

Just discovered my ban was lifted from 'Corvette Forum .. So just thought I would check in to see what I missed since I insulted some good old boy in his recliner, talking sh-t' he had no clue about. Anyway here is one of first posts I missed: " 1986 Corvette
I have just acquired a 1986 Corvette with a carbureted (chevy 350) I believe. It seems to be a wiring nightmare and I really need advice, schematics, and or wiring diagrams. The cooling fan seems to come on with the key turned to ON position. It has a fusible link. The ignition switch does not start the car. The switch must be in ON position,(fuel pump can be heard, seems to be hooked to fuel pressure regulator under hood) then flip toggle switch(PNK wire with fusible link I think), then I have to press a button to start the car. Is there a simpler way to wire this up so the switch can crank the car. I really appreciate any advice, and or help. God bless.

WOW! I sure miss that Forum !!

Ha, now there are 2 Stigs .. I still prefer the black. Thanks for the great suggestion Andy. Had a great race day! The final GP. was awesome. First it didn't rain, then it rained. Tire choice was crucial, balls to stay on slicks in the rain .. but price was paid. Anyway great race day! Jeff had like 70" HD Big Screen, full bar and beer on tap .. 'Thanks Bro'

Welcome to the forum! We are glad to have you aboard and look forward to hearing some good stories. We have a daily chat every morning and look forward to you contributing. You will also see many familiar names here, so I'm sure you'll be right at home.

Check out our tech section for any questions or problems. Best thing about moving to Minnesota from California (it's not the snow) is no smog or CARB requirements!

Matthew

That sounds great, I will look forward to it' .. Are you in the off-topic forum section? I have already seen some members here who I recognize from previous forums & events. Here is Tech. at Santa Barbara Porsche Club event. For the record: I did take 1st. in X class, 55 cars. Video's from event are on YouTube, 'interpilot' : http://youtu.be/KEwUcOOLTCo

I have tons of video I shot over 10yrs. much of which I have archived and never even watched. Hopefully I will get my work station up and running, and do some editing over winter months' .. Yes, smog in Ca. was always a costly proposition for me, as my car did not come close to passing!

There are many good things about Minnesota, just picked up a 'fresh duck' for dinner!! Next week Venison' .. 'Best'

Hey, welcome!! Great to have old faces over here!

I don't blame you for leaving CF... It's so corporate. I see it like this. We are the "local" place, the joint with that special cheese burger or the sauce on the sammich that makes you cry cause its so damned good; whereas CF is the chain place and everything they offer is ok, but where is the emotion? Where is the passion? Oh, wait, they haven't had a corporate retreat to find that yet...

As for brakes... time to visit Wilwood and spend some money, dude!!! Or hit up one of the Porsche recyclers for some 4 piston Brembos on the not so expensive. I know there are some folks who have made brackets. You more then likely will need bigger wheels!

Thank you Bogus .. I am still serving out my 2mo. ban on other site for posting. Cruizer' telling new C4 owners stock C4 brakes just fine. Drilled rotors not necessary for street applications.

When I first got my C4, I almost ran over my mechanic when brakes failed to stop car. Needless to say, he was not amused. As 350lb. Black Belt, I didn't argue.

I now have drilled rotors, Earl stainless braided lines, Hawk pads front, rear brakes from John Lingenfelter 'RIP' ..

As for those other guys .. When commercial interests supersede our interests, and our safety! Then it is 'See Ya, wouldn't want to be Ya'

No, you are not seeing double' .. Sorry I posted pic' twice. I meant to post pic' of my rolling circus cross country trip from Cali. to Minnesota (2,200mi.) Amazing when you try and put your entire life into an SUV & Corvette!

Everything was over-loaded. I had a 350lb. mattress on hood of Corvette. I remember pulling into hotel late night in Tucumcari NM. on 'Route 66' .. Lady walked up and said: "Thats no way to treat a Corvette". I said yes, you are are right .. But I didn't leave her behind.

Somehow I made it' .. !

I finally decided to seek out a new Corvette hang-out, after 10 yrs. as Senior member on that other Forum. Without going into to much detail, I found the commercial interests outweighing the interests of real Corvette Owners. 'Glad to be here'!

I currently run an 86 C4, I have owned since the mid 90's. I got re-hooked on AutoCross when one of my chief mechanics got me racing again around 1999' .. it became an addiction. In 2001 & 2002 we did some time trials in the desert. And man did I learn a lot about my old Vette and driving.

An example: I went into a slalom and lost brakes at 104'mph. Luckily into desert sand sideways & half backwards. The culprit was simple: Heat blew the top of brake master right off. Anyway lots of stories' .. look forward to hearing some 'whoppers' .. Currently my interest's are in under'car aero-improvements. as engine is 355ci. Trick-Flow. About as much motor as I can almost-control.
Having just moved back home to Minnesota after 35 years in SoCal. I have a nice garage to work on projects over the long winter. 'Best_'S'
