There's a decent bit of height advantage with the glass.

How tall are you?

Seat the whole way down? Tilting it back helps too.

I'm 5'10" and don't come close to hitting.

You only need 1/4 in. of clearance.

I'm 6'3" and with helmet on I have to take the bottom seat cushion out to fit nice in car. I have the glass top, but definately perfer the targa truss from ProStreet Customs. I noticed a big difference in racing and just driving on the street. I am going to get a Kirky seat to put in the car and basically almost sit on the floor... cant wait to never hit my head on the roof again :-)

[Here's the link for the AFSB bar (I bought mine used):

http://www.prostreetcustoms.net/CorvettePage.html[/quote]

I LOVE my AFS Bar from Prostreet. The guy is top notch too!! Huge difference in how my car felt on the road and autocross, even someone driving my corvette for first time noticed the difference. This is my planned order for stiffening;
1. AFSB - completed
2. Camber brace - this used more to tie the front cambers together for racing
3. Stock 'Vert x-brace boxed
4. 4pt + 2pt welded roll bar

I had an issue with mounting the AFSB and Tom helped me work through it, which also included shipping the bar back to him for some additional machining. He is top notch, if/when I buy another C4 Targa, I will purchase another bar for that car as long as he keeps making them. They definately look better than the R-D Racing one!!

BTW, getting that spring clip popped back up can be a real bitch. It's real hard to do using your hand.

But, there's a trick. Take a 3 ft. piece of heavy string or even a spare piece of wire (like 18 ga.) and loop it around the spring clip. Lay the string towards the front of the car. Put the cushion in and put your knee on the front of the cushion with all your weight on it. Then, grab the string and pull it up hard. The spring clip should pop into place. May take a couple trys.

I've never had a problem getting my seat bottom clipped back in. I have an 85 that I autocross. I'm too tall to sit in seat normal with helmet on so I take the seat bottom out when I race so I sit lower. Requires me to put it in and out fairly often

Do the lights have to sit that far up on the hood that you had to cut 3+ inches away from nose of car?

I didn't do anything with the tray. I bought the car with a standard battery 4 years ago. Replaced it with a Red Top this spring. had no problems putting the battery in. I also autocross, and know that they check to make sure the barrery is secured. I've had no problems with it.

Must be an early to late thing. Mine slide right in without a problem. I didnt want to take the panel off, as well as my body kit rocker cover either.

deeper pan I dont think will work; check out this...
http://www.yourcovers.com/transpan_9297.php
They claim lower temps cause the fins on the pan

Also, what's wrong with putting a trans cooler in front of radiator?

Need to keep an eye on this. I am interested in doing something similar!

Pull a headlight and take a pic of the unit in the hood, will give us a better idea of what would need to be trimmed or added to to make them fit.

We're veering off course here but basically by changing from stock gasket thickness of .055" to .015" with the stock 58cc chambers and .025" deck.
There's a formula out there.

Really we're not veering off course. The OP has an 85 car, I also have an 85 car. the 85's came with cast iron heads with a 73cc chamber @ 9:1 compression. The Op is asking about putting the 113 heads with a 58cc chamber. The cars with the 113 head I believe had dished pistons to keep compression at 9.5:1 where as our 85's have forged flattop pistons with big chamber @ 9:1 compression. All I was saying was to make sure that you have enough vavle clearence with the smaller chamber and flattop pistons if you're going to run 1.6RR, but also to make sure you have clearence between piston and valve either way the OP goes. The OP may need, as well as myself, to use a thicker head gasket, even the quench might be bigger, he(we) are also increasing compression ratio by quite a bit with changing to the 113 casting heads from the later L98 cars.

No if there is not enough clearence between piston and valve and the touch, the OP my not be happy with the information he got here in the forum saying that it will be okay, I'm just saying to make sure the OP looks into that aspect of it. The information I have been given was that it should be no problem. Since I really dont KNOW FOR SURE, I am slightly hesitant to just throw the 113 heads on my car, as I do not have cash laying around to start from scratch.

@Flyboy:

What have you changed to get 11:1 compression? Stock L98 had 9.5:1 with stock 113 heads. The 85 cars had iron heads with flattop pistons and chamber size of i think 73cc. The 113 heads are 58cc chambers, with the current flattop pistons. I do not know much about engine building. I have asked the question several times before I bought 113 heads for my 85, so I was just saying to make she the OP checks it out as well. Making sure there would be enough clearance with flattop pistons with the 113 heads, and possibly 1.6RR

check this out.. http://www.prostreetcustoms.net/index.html
I bought one, made a huge difference. Tom Gasper is a good guy to work with. The front mounting points needed to be machined out some more to fit my 85 car, and we had no problems working that out. I far prefer to drive with the bar on now than with my arylic top!

Double check on using a thin head gasket when switching the heads to the 113 aluminum heads. I am going to do that same on my 85 and everyone has been telling me my compression will increase from 9:1 to around 11:1, so a really think gasket may not be a good thing depending on piston to valve clearance. Also, I didn't see mentioned, adding 1.6 roller rockers is good too. If you can afford, there as been articles about people running 1.6 intake and 1.5 exhaust making better numbers than 1.6 on all.
