My next step is to change out the fluid (as you suggested). Any recommendations as to the best fluid?

Haven't looked closely yet but like you I thinks it's probably a sticky valve.

Thanks for your input!

I've got a buddy that has a 1969 Corvette that has a Factory Am/FM Radio with a built in CB.He's looking to find a new Antenna for it. Has to be a Power AM/FM Radio WITH CB. Appreciate your help!

Secondly, my Power Steering gets hard to turn only when going to the right. If I bump it left first then turn in right it works. I have bled this thing 3-4 times. Appreciate your help.

Wow, Thanks for all the inputs. I do have access to a press so this should be easy (I've changed a lot of u-joints out over the years). My only hesitation was how to get to the darn things with the car being so low. Jacking this Vette up takes a careful hand and eye. I don't trust lifting it up anywhere on the side, just looks to sketchy and I'm afraid of tweaking or bending the panels.

The steering is actually worse. Something I just picked upon istter1' post was (I probably shouldn't admit this) I forgot to remove the reservoir cap. Back in the garage...... I should never do these things after a graveyard shift

I jacked her up (Thanks Joel) and turned it back and forth over 20 times slowly. Didn't seem to work. Guess the next step is to flush the system?

Ok, back to the Power Steering System (I submitted a post on this a while ago). So I installed a new Power Steering Pump AND Pulley and it all went well. Here's my error. I did not jack up the front end and turn the wheels numerous times to get the bubbles out. The steering sucks. Sometimes it works other times I have to ask the driver next to me to help me turn my wheels. I know, I know, its my fault for not taking the time but moving beyond this what's my next step? I have tried jacking it up and turning the wheels several times to no avail.Does anyone know where the connections are for flushing the system? All recommendations are appreciated.

Lastly, where is a good spot for jacking the front end up? I've done it on the sides where the original jack notches are but that just doesn't look right to me when I get her up in the air.

Checking the timing chain was next on my list but I did not get around to it. I did discuss it with the shop that had it and they confirmed that there wasn't any "clacking"or unusual noise. Engine just turned over 100k so that's probably something I should change out.

Now on to the fan clutch!

You not gonna believe this..... after reaching my wits end I finally gave in and put it in the shop. Mind you I had installed a new distributor, doubled checked the timing, installed a new crankshaft position sensor all to try and get this "buck" out of the engine. Turned out to be the friggin plug wires. I installed a new set of wires and truck runs GREAT. Sometimes it's the simple things.......
Thanks for all of your inputs!

Having the retard set today. I must of dropped in a tooth off. TDC, Compression stroke #1 Cylinder, Distributor rivet and white mark matched on bottom of distributor and she fell right into place, rotor was pointing and #1. Can't see how I missed it!!!

Yea, I took the distributor completely out, marked it up (rotor position, cap position etc), put the new dist in and it fell in exactly where the old one was position wise. I did measure lift on all cylinders (intake & exhaust). Once it was started I readjusted all. Runs great, sounds great but still has the Crankshaft Position Sensor code. You may be right, is does still have 260,000 miles on it. Time for a new truck, like the new Jeep J12.

Was going to start detailing my engine compartment today and found this red plug that was disconnected (by the previous owner). I found where it goes but don't want to plug it in until I know what its for. Any ideas? Thanks.

Well now it's been along while so I thought I would close this out. I ended up taking off the lower intake manifold and I found the intake lifter on #2 cylinder laying around in the intake plenum. It was like it had just exploded. I bought and installed all new lifters and the Truck ran awesome for about a week then I started getting a hesitation or bucking at certain RPM's. If I pushed down on the accelerator it will smooth out.

After researching this I found out this appears to be a common problem so the "fixes" run the gamut from plugs and wires to removing and replacing the intake manifold gasket (again).

I decided to start with the distributor since one of the screws holding down the cap stripped out AND the distributor has 260,000 miles on it. Did that now I'm getting a P1345 code Crankshaft/Camshaft position misalignment. AAARRRGGG. Anyone have any ideas? I repositioned the distributor hoping that would make a difference but alas. There are no timing settings given for this vehicle instead it says the computer does it automatically.

It revs nice so I don't think I'm a tooth off.....Thanks in advance.

Here's an update. I bought a new motor and installed and it works great. How do I adjust the headlight to take the slop out of it? It travels (is loose) about a half inch or so.

Harrumph!! Replacing my headlight motor gears the other day and broke a piece off of the housing (dropped it). Everything works fine except one of the gears is exposed. Looks like it has a part number 0527-013-j. Any ideas where to get one? Thanks.

My Vette overheated the other day in traffic. Troubleshooting revealed the fan wasn't on so I unplugged the relay and jumpered the connection to get it home. Since then the fan comes on at strange times like right when I shut it off it comes on then off again. At what temp is the fan supposed to come on? I'm guessing around 170 but I just pulled in a minute ago, the temp was 203 and the fan was not on?

Thanks I appreciate your help. I did notice that the thread count on the rocker arm adjusting nut was less than the others. Has about two threads down from the top and the others were 5-6. Hmmm, a starting point.

Had a clacking sound on my 1997 GMC k-1500 5.7 liter. Took off the valve cover and readjusted the lifter. Back off until it clacks-turn slowly until it stops clacking then go another 3/4 of a turn. Thought everything was fine until I took a little trip. I was running on 7 cylinders by the time I got back home. Soooo, I have two thoughts here, bad lifter or flat spot on the Cam. Your thoughts?

Here's a new one. My right front head light needs a lot of help opening and closing. I had a look at the head light "gear box" and decided I needed to call on you guy's. Is there a part within that is a common fail or does this thing need an overhaul. I appreciate any and all suggestions. 1984.
