Personally, I find it easier to remove the engine and trans together, then separate them on the garage floor. The only drawback is that you need two people, one to guide the motor around the firewall and the other to work the cherry picker.

I also remove the hood - many people tell me I'm foolish and it can be done with the hood in place. Yes, it can. But it's 4 freakin' bolts, does that take so long to remove? Just mark (paint) the bolts before you take the hood off so you get it aligned properly upon reassembly.

hi mate,
i think i will just remove all at once like you mentioned.
but do i need to remove radiator at all ??
what else do i need to remove please guys ??

Hey Glen! It's actually not a bad question. You and I had words and straighted it out peacefully. Better to take your time and do things right than to hurry up and put a bunch of crap on it. I've been modding my '93 for 6 years now and am "almost" done. I hate it when people ask "what are the cheapest shocks, or the cheapest whatever that I can put on my Corvette". Well, if you want the cheapest part that you can find for your car, maybe you should think about buying a Yugo.

hi mate,yeah no worries,all cool.

hi guys in the next two months i say i will proberely be ready to remove the old 1991 vette engine and fit my new 388 c.i engine!!
the old engine that has the 8 t/b intake and haltech fitted has a left hand side head gasket problem at the moment.
its leaking coolent out spark plug hole when plug is out and also i noticed when i drained old engine oil out coolent was coming out of oil drain plug as well.
its stuffed.
for tempory use to fix head gasket problem, can i add " chemi weld" solution in coolent to help plug old head gasket to stop it leaking to see me thru the two months ??
im not sure if you sell this chemi weld solution liquid weld there in the usa ,but here i can buy the stuff from autobarn here.
they say to remove thermostat when adding chemi weld to coolent and fill up.
so here is another question guys, should i remove engine with 6 speed box all togeather or leave 6 speed in car ??
what problems or difficulties will i encounter ??
i know that i can leave the hood attached still while pulling motor out!
any tips/tricks would be much appreciated.
cheers

hi guys,
currently i have 1/3/4" long diameter headers with high flow cats ,x-pipe and true dual 2.5 " Mandrel bend exhaust back out thru magnaflow straight thru mufflers.
there is no kinks or nausty bends thru out the system, just nice flowing pipes.
ok so here is the question that i would like to hear lots of thoughts and ideas on,will this exhaust set up be ok and large enough to support a 388.ci high compression 11:5:1 ,8 t/b intake 236/242 roller cam,afr 195 ported comp heads,450-500 rwhp ???
i thought 2.75 " diameter would be nice but then i would have to spend more money and do the whole lot again, and if you go to large on diameter pipes dont you loose to much important back preasure???
cheers

hi guys,
when you remove a dist, is this how you go about setting it all up rite again.
i have got a msd small cap gm # 8366.
remove #1 spark plug, fit cork into #1 hole and crank it over on compression stroke and get it roughly on 5 degrees btdc, then line up oil pump slott with dist gear and carefully drop into position but making sure the rotor button point at #1 cylinder on the dist cap,is this rite ??
i did all this but some times i cant get the dist to sit flush and it sits some times 5 mm up and also when turning motor over but with the dist clamp not really tight the dist was moving one way clock wise.
also for some reason the inside of the top rotor button has been scraping inside part of the cap,why would this be ??
is this because may be the cap wasny seated down properly when trying to start it up ??
any ideas guys please
thanks

hi guys,
i was just wandering please is it very important and a definate necessary for the engine machinist to use a " torque plate" tool when boring/honing block as far as say 500 rwhp is concerned ??

i got my roller block sonic tested when they bored it out 60" thou to go with 3.75" stroker crank and make it a 388 c.i and was fine but they didnt use a torque plate though!!

what are the chances of the block stuffing up cause of this not using a torque plate ??

would it be able to handle the big power ??

to find a roller block here in oz it is quite hard ands iv got all the machinst work done now and ready to go for assembly thats all.
has any here had success whith out not using a torque plate when you got your block done ??
i really hope it is going to be ok.
hope to hear from you all guys please r.e this.

hi guys,me again with another brain picking question.

iv fitted new bronze head light motor gears NOT plastic to my 91 vette about 1.5 years ago and all went well and has worked well.
since i got my vette back from the two diffeent dyno shops recently only one head light works/goes up and down properely!!
the rhs side when you turn them on goes up half way and gets stuck, then i have to manually adjust it up.
is there any way of disconnect plug so they stay up all the time but still light up ??
why would this be please ??
i wonder what it could be guys??
any ideas/thoughs please??
cheers

hi guys,
how are we all!!
this is a dumb question and i should proberely know better but when you lower the rear with longer spring bolts with more thread do you lower the nut or raise the nut to lower/raise the car please ??
iv raied the coil overs back up a little on front and need to raise the rear a little thats all.

any way,i have fitted the rear sway bar up the rite way up this time now thanks to your helpful time and advise.

also you know how i fitted a after market sports wheel and boss kit #2401 well i brought a 3.3 ohm and soldered the two wires to getaher and bingo,NO more air bag light comes up,problem solved!!

also i got the vette back from the dyno tuners and wow does the 8 t/b indivdual 50 mm diam cross ram intake is awsome!!
it pulls hard rite thru the rev range and there is no stopping it!!
and this is with a stock cam and heads in my 91 vette.
its bloody unreal, well worth the expense, pain in the ass problems!!
im very happy with the way it runs,iv fitted back the 22 lb injectors now and no more hot glowing red headers, thank god.
this new dyno shop charged me less and fixed up all the problems but it has a manifold vaccum leak which is one of the gaskets so i will have to replace it!!
i think i stuffed and put silcone sealer on all the ports and that is why it is leaking.
apparently the guy only reved it up on the dyno to 5,200 rpm as i was not there to view it and they dont push customers cars hard unless customer is there.
iv still got to find out the dyno hp results !!
any how im really amazed how well these cross ram intakes perform guys.
cheers

LOL?

It was 23 months ago yesterday - headon with a drunk, square, headlight to headlight, 110mph combined impact, all on the report, no exaggeration. 55mph to 0mph in 0 seconds. I can still smell the gunpowder.

IED's that blow soldiers around in Iraq do NOT have that much force.

I had no seatbelt on. I got pulse cause of the airbag, and Divinity. The other guy has been room temp since that day.

Put it back in...

hi guys,
well ive deleted my 1991 air bag which alot of you dont approve off and think is dumb.
any way sorry about that,lol.
now i heard to get rid of of air bag lite of centre info display you need to connect a 3 ohm elecetrical diode yeah ??
i only managed to find a 3.3 ohm or a 2.7 ohm diode though.
will that be ok ??
now in the steering column ther is the two wires ,green and white so do i just connect each end of diode wire to these wires and that should shut up the air bag lite ??
any help/advise would be great.

hi guys,
well all i need now to complete my 388 c.i race mootr is HEADS!!!
i really like the afr # 1095 ported comp new heads but by the time i get them here it is going to cost me $ 3,200 Aus dollars ,alot of dough hey!!
iv seen eagle performance company here that sell patriot 195 cc cnc heads for $ 1600 aus dollars.
but they werent the # 2080 Freedom series head though.
so what do you guys think about two diffrent heads, which ones ???
# 2080 patriot freddom or # 1095 afr comp heads ???

which will be better, which will give more power ???

afr have bigger intake valves and flow more though dont they ??

will there be much difference between them ??

hopefully some of you guys can let me know your point of view this time instead of just reading and no action as i know some of you guys just dont like me and want to deal with me !!
proberely cause i ask to many questions......
cheers

hi andy,
thanks for the reply.
if you could check your spline please that would be great mate!!
i wrang corvette clinic who did the right hand drive conversion here and they said they use the same spline set up,didnt change that at all!!
any way, mine has 32 splines,16 each side with slot top and bottom.
it will be interesting to see if you have the same hey!!
hope to hear later next week what you have .
cheers
