All same pump rebuilt by A1 Cardone. A1 32-430 This will be number 2 in 6 months. This is my second defective one. Still under warrenty . Feels like PEP boys in the old days. They use the same vender. Any suggestions.
Rock auto uses same rebuilder. Hate crap parts  Haven't checked with dealer don't even know if they carry this part new and how expensive it is? You might try a used one from one of the parts strippers. Unfortunately they can't be rebuilt at home without some serious hardware.

Found a couple from $20-$30 10 dollar shipping on e-bay.
Don't know if they are worth the time. Will be changing it out next weekend any way. Thanks Steve |

This isn't the first time that the name Cardone's come up with rebuilds failing in a week or 2.
We just had a thread going on the NCRS forum about rebuilds in general and why the quality sucks. PepBoys, Autozone, whatever - you don't know what you're getting. I feel a bit better buying from NAPA but I also would rather buy new vs rebuilt (even as cheap as I am).  |

Steve let me take a look and see if I still have the air pump off my 90 out in the shop....If I do you can just have it. It was working fine when I took it off the C4.....

Well picked up new pump. Turned out this will be the third one in a year.
Taking everything apart I gently pull on a bolt and snap I break the smog Pump mounting bracket. Looking for new (who carries them)??Will weld this one up as soon as i find some with a Mig. Steve  Attach file:  smog bracket.jpg (366.15 KB) |

Why don't you just run a pump delete set up and get your original stuff all in order and change it back when you get your smog check then strip it off. Easy to get to and a hassel but looks better and you may pick up a horse or two....bone yard for the bracket I'm thinking.....
Jeff had some delete brackets made and was selling them awhile back when he got a Mustang...... |

Been to 9 bone yards this morning. Bringing back a lot of memories. Any body know another Chevy that uses the same bracket. My bud I trust to weld up this alum pot metal crap found a job out of state and will be gone a month. When by Chevy dealer to see if there is one any where $32 Not made any more.. LOL. I know what caused the bracket to break when I took the pump back. The wobble that caused the bracket to break was the crap Cardone smog pump to break. It wobbled in your hand when you turned it.
Dam California Smog. It is not my fault I waited to the last minute to have it smogged.  Steve |

VATS = Vehicle AntiTheft System - it keeps the car from starting. FEAS = Forced Entry Alarm System - this has another name that I can't find... but this is what protects from someone throwing a brick through the door window and opening the door from the inside. |

Well my friend call a buddy of his I bought the 12 pack and he came over and welded up the bracket. We will be at a Supper Bowl party tomorrow.

You know how when we say should of, could of, but didn't do it. Now that the bracket is solid and stable the Bearings went out in the alternator. Car Quest had one in stock new belt. Now when I have time repair the flue line under neath. When the belt broke it broke the rubber line. When I got home from work gas was pouring from underneath the harmonic balancer. Sure glad I had a full tank of gas. LOL
Anyone remember the line size 3/8' or 1/4?  Steve |

Timing I guess was right for belt to break. My smog pump mount arrived very quickly.WWW.JUSTCORVETTES.COM Said that he has a load of C4 parts just e-mail him. Anybody elese ever use him?

There is a bracket you can buy, make, that deletes the Smog Pump/ Looks great and frees up some room. Look into that if you are interested im sure some of these guys know more about where to look than i do.
