A friend put 18S on his 96 and gave me a set of Goodyear Eagles GS-Cs with 400 miles on them. Right now my pilot sports are ok for a few thousand more miles. Whats a good way to store these until next summer? Thanks !

Best in a warm(er) place that doesn't freeze.

It probably won't make much difference though, cars are parked outside all winter.

I did some testing a few years ago on racing slicks. I bagged the tires (garbage bag with the air sucked out with a shopvac. The tires that were bagged came back to life faster on the track than the set that sat in the open.

So, you could do that but I don't think it's a big deal on street tires.

Damn Bill. I never thought of that (bagging) but it makes sense. If it's good enough for K rations and storing foods in the freezer should be good for rubber too.

Yea, bagging is a good idea. Ground level ozone really kills a tire.

I would consider a good tire treatment first, on all outside surfaces, then suck it out and seal it tight.

Stack in a basement or garage. Don't leave them outside. Shadier the better. Light will activate the ozone and kill whatever benefits you have had from storage. If anything, use a black plastic bag.

www.tirerack.com should have some tips for winter storage, too.

Nitto recommends reducing air pressure by half for long term storage with their drag radials.

If storing with air, I would consider a nitrogen fill.

All that will do is decrease the moisture level in the tires.
And I dought it would be to a point where it would have any effect.
