Does anyone know if the stock centerbolt valve covers will fit over roller rockers and what mods need done to accomplish this?

The heads and valve covers are supposed to be from an 86 but when I searched Summit it seemed centerbolt valve covers started in 87

87 was the first full year. 86 all convertibles and half way through the production year some coupes were fitted with the aluminum heads using the centerbolt covers.

Depending on the size of the RRs you may need to trim the drip tabs off the VCs with a dremel tool. You can get narrow body roller rockers that shouldn't need any modifications to the VCs.

You need narrow body, self aligning roller rockers. You will need to grind the drip tabs off. They hang down from the underside of the valve covers. I originally installed mine without removing the drip tabs. Upon starting the car all the drip tabs snapped off in the rocker slots, preventing the rockers from being able to move, and bent all my pushrods. Luckily new pushrods was all I needed. Make sure you remove those tabs!

You may (but shouldn't) have to modify the breather baffle a little with a pair of vice grips. Depending on the actual rockers you get, they may rub the sides of the baffle in the valve cover. It's simple to crimp them in a little with vice grips and all will still work fine.

Yes they are the original valve covers. The roller rockers are the Summit brand rockers which I am sure are not a narrow body.
