Was doing a little reading online... Just wondering if my 89 Vette has one?

When I first got the car, we took it out to have a little fun with it. Its a 6 speed,... I couldn't for the life of me get it to do a donut. It would get 180* and then cut power to the engine. What I read kind of described what it was doing... not to mention the information is listed for an 89. Dumb question now i guess...

Yes you do! It's part of the ABS system.

Now here's a twist. My 91 does have one and I don't have ASR nor ride control. It's a grey module underneath the radio.
I just tried to look it up in the parts manual, but could only find a part number for 90-92.
I am not so sure now that you got one, sorry.

I really don't think so, but I don't, for a fact, know. Try the donut again, with a half tank of gasoline, or more. C4s are known for fuel pick up problems under extreme conditions when the fuel gets low.

This is not really that big of a concern; more of an interest sort of thing. I rarely if ever drive the car like that; the last time we were fooling around was when I made my avatar last year... next time it is warm I will fill the tank and take it out.

Do i need to make a video guys?

I don't know for 100%, but the FSM for a 89 does show one in the componet location section.

so this device would cause the result I listed above? Power cut to the engine when the car skids out?

No it's only purpose is for the ABS to know which way the car is going.

It's usually mounted beneath the stereo. Well at least on the 90-96 cars it is.

this is on my 1990 so cant say for sure about 84/89 , what is does is send info to abs when you get to aggressive in a turn and have to apply light brake pressure it will keep your rear wheels from locking up so you can better control the car, also when the asr system started on whatever year it was [not sure] then accelerometer sent info to it[asr] as well and cut power or timing to help control car, i am sure cfi knows what year asr started
