I told the guy what I had and that I wanted the oil filter that would fit my car and for under ten dollars he got me this one. It's a Napa Gold part # 1794 and it says maximum heavy duty protecton. It's like 2.5 times bigger than the stock I would say but he says it will fit and I can return it if it doesn't. Does this look like it will fit my 86 vette? Also, I told the guy I wanted a bigger than stock filter that would fit becuase others do that and he agreed it was a good idea and said it would be the same price.

the key is diameter.

If it fits the housing, and is'nt exposed to speed bumps, all is ok.

I am not sure of the advantage of a larger filter these days... a good filter and good oil kick ass on their own.

I bought 5 quarts of Royal Purple. It was a "mechanics discount" because I come up there so much from the manager! What do you think of Royal Purple?

P.S. Am uploading pictures and about to send you a pm of the parts I promised. Been pretty busy lately.

Bigger is better for filters, but no, that shit will scrape on the ground.

If you want a good large can filter, try a Mobil M1-302. A Napa 7202 might work also.
