I was thinking of cleaning and re-greasing my brand new u Joints for my half shafts. Yes or no.

I say no. I recall spicer was very specific about the amount of grease inside the ujoints. I thought I read that in the instructions.

I don't know how greasable ujoints factors into that, maybe they just need a quick squirt every few years.

I burned up my stockers at about 80K, the grease had finally found its way out or was otherwise turned to dust.

Are they sealed units or with a zerk?

[edit]

Zerk fitting:

Cleaning them as in removing the grease in them now? No.

But they are shipped not fully greased. Grease them through the zerk until some of the packing grease squirts out.

This was on a federal mogul FAQ:

"Q. I have a Super Strength non-greaseable joint - that means I don't have to grease it, right?"
A. Wrong! Pack the cups full of grease during installation, after that 'you're on your way'."

So, just fill them full of grease. No need to clean the old, different grease out?

Okay. I have a MOBIL 1 synthetic bearing grease I will use to fill them up. I will push it in . The housing of the u joint is solid too.
