Jon,
I have an 85. I eliminated the AIR pump and cats, added 86 aluminum heads that I port matched, 1.6 rockers, headers and added a cam with 260/272 duration and .499/.493 lift. Are the rebuilt 32lb Bosch III's too much? |

I am not FIC, but common sense says, yes.
All things being equal, I would go with a 24# or 26# injector. |

http://injector-rehab.com/shop/Injector-Size-Selection.html Injector size = (HP x BSFC) / (number in injectors x duty cycle) This Size Selection Guide is intended to help in determining what size injector to use in your application. * Brake Specific Fuel Consumption: This is the amount of fuel consumed (in lbs. per hour) for each horsepower made. This should be .45 to .50 for naturally aspirated engines Supercharged engines should be between .55 to .60 Turbocharged engines.60 to .65 Rotary engines, estimate BSFC to be 0.6 to 0.7 For engines running methanol, double the appropriate gasoline BSFC (e.g. a rotary engine running methanol has a BSFC between 1.2 and 1.4) ** Maximum Injector Duty Cycle should be around 80% max for safe operation. This allows for some future horsepower increases. 32s are too large, even with tuning. Matthew |

I used the injector calculator Matatk linked and with 350 hp plugged in it recommended 27 lb/hr injectors and at 400hp, 31 lb/hr injectors. I'm not racing the vette, will do some autocross but the primary use would be cruising. So I guess your suggestion Bogus, of 26 or 27 lb injectors would be the way to go.

I think 350 hp is overly optimistic. I would call Jon directly, and see what he recommends. Or check with your tuner.

32s would not be too much, you would not be out of range, of course it will need to be tuned with any larger injectors, but 32's will work and give room to grow.
If the injectors are too large, they will pump too much fuel into the engine even at the minimum pulse rate, causing it to be nearly impossible to get the car to idle. |
