Woodstock Compression Test electrical question

Hi Gurus,
the other day I made such a test on an 86 Vette and disconnected all injectors, just to make sure.
Of course the ignition part was disconnected as well.

Just wondering, if I only disconnect ign.+, would the injectors still get a pulse signal or was that overkill?
I know I could have pulled the inj fuse as well, but just in general, do I need to do something to the injector side to avoid flooding?

Thanks,
Axel

I'd have to go thru all the wiring diagrams to be sure.

But I feel the easiest thing to do would be to pull thr fuel pump fuse.

I guess I phrased my question too complicated.

Where does the ECM get the reference pulse for the injectors from?

Would unplugging the IGN+ at the distributor take care of the signal, or would I have to unplug the tach signal as well?
Or does neither help and I still would need to pull the INJ fuse?

Thanks.

I don't have a manual for an 86, so I can't answer, Axel.
Interesting question though.

Just pull the fuel pump fuse.

All spark plugs out.

Throttle fully open.

Begin testing.

Axel, I looked through the FSM but couldn't find a breakdown of what input signal the ECM processes to fire the injectors. Just basically says if there's no pulse check the wiring to the injectors from the ECM, and if that's ok replace the ECM. I guess that leads me to believe it's all controlled in one of the chips/circuit boards, possibly due to multiple sensor inputs. I'm not sure if just one controls it? Good question that maybe a tuner can answer better.

I'd say just pull the fuel pump fuse.
