Getting ready to paint this vehicle and the weather striping is going to be an issue. I hear there are many good kits and some that just don't last. Would apperaciate your opinions

nice looking ride!

The best sources are Corvette-Rubber.com, Wilcox and GM itself.

You want the latest revision material from the 1996 Corvette. It is a better material that won't break down and won't tear as easily.

Heck, your car looks better before painting than mine after painting. I agree totally with Andy on the weather stripping.

Thanks for the complement . Fun to drive. Tearing apart the clutch hydralic systen later to try and find out for the fifth time why it keeps failing. Nex ptoject is the seats. Gota deceide wheather to use local shop or buy on line seat covers.

There was also a problem several years ago where all of the new slave cylinders were made with a seal installed upside down. Unfortunately I did not save the instructions on what to look for to identify the 'bad' ones.
ps--you have a good looking C4.

One of the kids at the shop replaced the Clutch master cylinder left it over noght to bleed. He cleaned out all the lines and took apart the slave cylinder this morning . This morning he drove it the clutch felt good but grined some times going into reverse. He took apart the master cylinder because the fluid was alread black. He took it apart and found it showed ware in the center of the cylinder.

I think Bogus was on the right track with modification of the clutch. I went through all the serevice records the last owner had and he had replaced and turned the fly wheel. When we replaced the fly we also turned the fly wheel. We found from an old Corvette mechanic that the 87-89 corvette had a problem with the fly wheel. If you turned them you had to get a chim kit or you would over work the hydraulics and destroy the slave and master cylinder and build up resuide in the lines. He also suggested that we insulate the lines with some material. So when all the parts get in this is what we are going to try. We are going to replace the fly wheel also. Thanks for your help 95vette.

The 4+3 hydraulics are more reliable than the ZF6 setup.

I can see an angle change causing issues, but the amount of material removed would have to be huge.

Now, if you turned it down AGAIN, you may be too thin. Hence the need for a shim or 2.

Bleeding them isn't hard. I find if you take the master off, have an assistant pump it up to vent the fluid out, then using your thumb, you can work the piston in/out to remove the air. Works quite well, actually.

Keep us posted. I am really curious how thin the current flywheel is. The Helm Factory Service Manual has all the dimensional numbers for you.

Well we removed the transmisson. The clutch which is 9-10 months old looks fine. The flywheel had areas of Blue like it had been heated up or was slipping. My parts guy said he would warrenty the entire Hydralic system master ,slave, master cylinder to slave cylinder hose, and replace the clutch. I have ordered a new flywheel and should have all the parts next week.
I tell you it is great having close friends.
Gotta get to the Beach before I have to go back to work in Aug

Old fly wheel on the edge of tolarance. New one and new clutch and presure plate. putting pan back on after replacing rear main seal. Any one know what all the plugs on the transmisson look like . Found one that goes to the CAGS. Most of them are melted but working. Do they make a harness or does someone have pictures of what the plugs look like. Have a few Jeep wireing harnesses in good shape.
