matts85vet need help w/ governor cap and clip installation

i changed the weights in the governor--#5 and #6 from b+m kit, along with stock springs.
trans now shifts at 6000 1-2 and 6200 2-3

any tips to get the safety clip on?
it didn't have one originally.

also what did you use to pound the cap back on?

Are you referring to the safety clip on the outside of the trans case that holds the cap on? AFAIK those aren't on 700r4s, just the older transmissions. But I think the holes are still there and you can use one from a 350. Mine doesn't have one, the cap fits snug. When I had to put my cap back on I used a BFH - I think I used a masonry hammer because the chiseled end let it slip in between the trans and the tunnel - there's not much room to work there.
