Need this info for a friend, who's 86 Vette is currently getting a paint job.
He would like to replace those little shocks and needs to know the overall length. The rating of those shocks in NM or lbft would be great to know as well. Thanks edit: Did a Google search and found a replacement shock marked 1112N, that would relate to 250 lbft. Anyone who could confirm that? |

Get the part number and buy them genuine, or have them rebuilt.

6 inches extended, 5 inches compressed. I can tell you is those little F'ers are super stiff. I could not budge the new ones even standing on them. Rockauto has the pair for only $8.00 each. Part #SG430011 Check out my old ones. (click thumbnail) New ones made a huge difference. I can open the hood with one finger. |

When I did mine, I updated to the late model gas charged support rod as well as two new assist struts. Lift the hood very easily about four inches and it springs open all by itself! Ended up removing one of the assist struts to make the opening more gentle. |

Part#? Price? Any mods required to fit it? I junk yarded from a late model. Had to cut the frame mount to accommodate. I got some pics somewheres...... There are three different C4 hood supports. Sissors, spring/latch & compressed gas strut The early 86 hood has the nut plates for the hood bracket already in place. So you need the upper bracket. The lower bracket is different for the spring/latch & different for the comp/gas strut. If your interested email me and I'll get the dimensions and pics. I might even have a spare gas strut for cheap....... |

Quote: I wrote this paper several years ago when I did mine. I think ZIP has it in kit form as M-3421 for $129.95 though. Let me know how you make out. Your Pacer must be fairly late like mine as the early ones had the scissor prop on the right. |

Good info guys, thanks a lot.
My buddy just asked me, to go ahead and to order those from RockAuto. I always thought, the earlier hoods would weigh more because of their structural design, guess not. |
