I just wanted to post this in case anyone else has this problem or might have it in the future.

My side view mirror was vibrating and jumping all over the place. When I would push on it, it would rock back and forth in the housing. Come to find out I had one missing screw two lose screws. (I know what you're thinking Bill... so zip it! No lose screws in my head!)
It was an easy fix and only took a few minutes per side. It took me more time to find some cleaning supplies and clean the inside of the mirror housing before re-assembling everything. The Tech-Tip for doing this is over at Corvette Forum, so here is the link.

http://www.corvetteforum.com/techtips ... ?SubTopicID=199&TopicID=2

I wanted to post it here in case someone needed this information and to also let you know this is an easy job for even those with a minimal experience working on their car.

You will need to have some Locktite and some dielectric grease but other than that its a really easy job. I guess you could even get away without the Locktite and grease but that makes the job complete.

Somewhere on the wed, there was instructions with piotures.

Good tip. Just be careful when pulling the mirror out of the housing that you don't snap it!

True but mine was mounted to a plastic backing with the heater wires sandwiched between. I was a little worried about that, but that plastic backing seems pretty stout. However, if you are all thumbs, I do think you could damage something if you were not careful.

If anybody wants a driver's side (non-heated) mirror with the wideangle bubble in it, let me know.

Reminded me of what a service tech who worked at Chevy in the mid 80's told me 20 years ago. Customers with new Vettes would come in under warranty with the mirror glass wobbling. They would just stick a piece of cardboard behind it to stabilise it. By the time the cardboard rotted the car wasn't under warranty anymore and then they'd charge them to fix it right! :-O
