Andy you were right these guys are sharp

I have your cals but I have to load the software into my S-4 Driver or PROM burner. Then I overlay the calibration area, move the section to address $0000 and export it back into the PC via my S-4. We used S-4's to burn and emulate the old slow proms in development. (The S-4 uses an old DB9 9 pin and I have to find my USB to db9 adapter. - SORRY)

When you scan you car with a Tech-1, tell the scan tool it is a 1989 Corvette and the data and the OUTPUT controls will function WITH DATA able to read. In the older 165 ECM's the only way to have OUTPUT controls was to continually send (via tech-1) mode 4 data to it. In late 88 and 89 it was corrected. (output controls are items as Fan on/off, TCC on/off, block learn reset, ect.)

I will send you the Version 5 Tuner Pro adx file for scanning. I can send my defs for the 89 if you want. I use the 165 ECM in my crew cab big block with twin MAFs.

Hi Steve,

As I clicked the sent button, I thought of something. I went to the TunerCats web site and there was a newer version of hex2bin and it works in Windows 7.

Sorry for the long file name but in a few years when I look at this again I will remember what it is for.

I converted the PTP or HEX file to a BIN so you can use it with TunerPro IF you change calibrations.

Do you need help with TP and have hardware question? I might be able to help you.

I have

Billy

I think they are suggesting an upgrade, but at the same time, it sounds like they are saying "pretend the 1987 ECM is a 1989".

I feel something is amiss...

They are changing the earlier proms to a more reliable band. U do not have the 10k to start down load. The 10k makes the idle go up and not reliable data logging process for the 160 read.
When you tell the 87 it is the earlier version it allowed it to accept the new.

This guy may be full of it but others on that site say it works

I'm confused.
All I did was just install the '89 tune into my '87 '165 ECM and it functioned /datalogged fine

Perhaps they were saying if you use an 89 tune, you have to set up the datalogger program with an 89 definition table?
