Usually if it comes on while running I figure it is egr or maf related. The 85 has that crappy burn off module setup. I wonder if you are losing ecm power and that's why there is no stored code?

Any chance you can datalog it while running?

It's a bit of a longshot, but I've had both the ABS and SES lights come on while driving on my 86. No codes etc and it was frustrating. Found a thread stating if the battery was down or alternator not putting out enough juice, that can happen.
Charged the battery up overnight and lights went out and have not come back. This happened right after taking it out of winter storage.

Worth a try. Good luck

checked the battery--it was low- 25% according to the charger but still read 12v. recharged it and no more light!

Glad the tip worked out. It's frustrating to have a problem without an indication of what's wrong.
Congrats on getting it resolved.
