Just wondering if anyone had opinions on the Generac Brand and their portable generators.

TIA

What is your budget? Honda is the best, but quite spendy. I bought a HF generator for the house for the occasional power outage and it has been surprisingly good.

We have the $1K budget in mind. The genearc GP7500E is on sale and I can get it for $850+ tax.

this is for a 7500 watt model. anything in honda at that wattage raiting is in the ralm of $3k. not where I wanna be for a portable.

Now i did splurge last summer and spent $1k on my Honda push mower and cant agree with you more about the quality. i think thats why my wife love's her honda pilot!

I have heard good about Generac... Personally, I want a big mofo run on propane. Never have to cycle the gas out.

I hear ya! we dont loose power that often though.

Lots to read up on with this buy. Don't want to spent my money foolishly.

Dollar for dollar there is a homelite model that looks to good to be true!

avoid anything with the name "homelite" on it!

I do have a homelite chainsaw, but it's a rare one - it runs.

95% of the time that I have either bought or used homelite stuff, it's been junk.

Funny....after I responded to your message I went outside to do some work so I fired up the generator. Hasn't been run since last summer and has 4 yr old gas in it (with stabil). Fired up first pull and ran great. I siphoned the old gas anyways and refilled.

Btw, I bet a Honda rating is still equivalent to a double rating of generac...buy once, cry once!

I have a Generac 4000w bought specifically to run my Lincoln 110v mig welder at the racetrack.

Rough guess is that it's 15 years old.

I drain the 10% ethanol in the spring bit it sits with a full tank all winter.

On the first start in the winter when the power goes out, it takes 4 pulls then starts afterwards on one.

I was too lazy to install the box in the house electrical system. I run 2, 50 ft. extensions upatairs when the power goes out and run my 60in big screen, laptop and a couple lights.

The only thing that's a mild annoyance is that Home D quit stocking the oil filter (not surprising), gotta get them on line.

The main reason I picked Generac is the pressurized oil system.

I'd buy another one.

My buddy (where I'm painting the 67) has one of their permanent built in units, never had a problem.

Honda's are sweet but it's like buying a Snap On tool box, cost way too much for what you get.

Bill thanks for the info. I doubt teh stuff they sell now can hold a candle to the one you have.

i ended up buying the GP7500e on line about 15 min ago. $909 which is about $170 less than what it is when i's not on sale. i'll pick up tomorrow and as long as I dont put gas in it I can return if I get buyers remorse

That model seems to get very good reviews online. I'm sure you will be pleased and it should serve you well.
