Major Scheller L. Garlock, U.S. Army, Ret. 1922-2008.

WWII and Korean War Vet. Corvette Lover.

We buried him this past Monday, but I wrote the following after his funeral on Jan 25th.

Never knew he even liked Corvettes since he didn't have one at the time I first met him(2003).

When I bought my '88 back in 2005, he got the bug all over again. In just a few months he bought an '86E coupe. He was so stoked about it. He even joined the local Corvette Club.

His wife seemed less pleased, and gave me the "You're off the Christmas Card list" look. Guess she figured they were done with the Corvette thing at their age.

Come to find out, he had owned several Corvettes over the years, and he really enjoyed driving his C4.

His eyes were as big as teacups when I took him for a ride in my '71 last summer.

I was shocked by how many people talked about his long love affair with Corvettes at the service.

This will be us someday, so try to take a moment out of your busy day to remember another Corvette enthusiast and patriot who's gone to that big garage in the sky.

Thanks for listening. Only you guys would get it.

It sounds like you both had a profound effect on each other.

No one ever really dies as long as there is that memory.

Sad, but wonderful at the same time.
