I was getting my '93 ready for a local show on Sunday and she was shinin' up real good...It got me thinking, Remember when you were a kid and played "King of the Hill" and you were at the top and all the other kids would run up and try to knock you down? I've had this vette for 15 years and a lot has changed in the vette world. When I got my '93 in November of 1993 the LT1 was in it's second year. It was THE baddest standard Vette (not including the ZR-1). The generation was in it's 10th year so it was far from fresh. There where lots of newer sporty cars with brand new tech trying to push the C4 vette off of the hill, The 300ZX twin turbo was out like in 1990-91, the Mazda RX7 turbo with the fresh 1993 version. They came along and I remember going to the auto show walking around and hearing people say "this is better than the Vette" I even test drove the Mazda and the 300ZX turbo before making the final decision to get the car I've always wanted...an American Icon..the Corvette. Try as hard as they did the C4 Corvette knocked them ALL off that hill and the folks from Nissan, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Toyota gave up. All of their refinement, turbos, 255hp, 300hp, and 320hp all wheel drive, all wheel steer tech couldn't match up to the ancient design of the Vette..The C4 put the Corvette brand at the top of the hill and Nissan and Mazda decided to down scale their target market to the pony car crowd. The Corvette brand stood on the top of that hill and looked around..."where do we go from here?" Well the C4 was already as quick as the Porsche 911 so why not go after the rest of the world...Yes the Corvette evolved into the C5 and the awsome C6...but the C4 was THE ONE who conquered the hill for the next genereatons to follow...True Corvette enthusiasts should never trash the C4, if so they have a short memory. I love the way the newer generations have improved in all areas to keep the Corvette brand a respected sports car..but, respect the C4 for what it did for the Corvette brand. The C4 may not be worth much dollar wise as the fancy newer generations, but it is rich in Corvette history.

:goodpost: TOO_HOTT, I agree with your assesment of the C4 stature in the lieage of the Corvette. I would like to add that since the advent of the C5 & C6 generation with all their improvements their 1 major short comming is the lack of a clamshell hood. I have been in love with Corvvettes since I was a kid. When the C4 came on the scene in 1983 the romance was rekindled and the flame never wained since. I rea;;y ;\like the C6 and am planning on the purchase of one within the year. BTW, I ain't letten go of my C4 no way no how!!

Which car show? Cruisin Krome, Sunshine Corvette Club or another one. I went to the first two today and took 137 pics. LOL. I like my C4s and could buy another model year if I really wanted to but I'm happy with my C4s. Great performance for a moderate cost.

That would be the Cruisin Krome show. How many C4s do you presently own?
