patgizz LT1 intake on L98 - my thoughts

i just got my LT1 intake last night and today i mocked up a gen1 block/heads to look things over some.

here is my biggest thought:

why all the mods to the intake?

with the exception of the 4 outermost bolt holes being on the wrong angle and needing fixed, what says not to just drill/tap the inner 8 bolt holes into the heads as opposed to grinding all over the intake? it would not leave you with unusable heads if you wanted to go to a typically patterned intake down the road because the new holes would just get covered up with gasket. with that said i'm sure i will modify the intake as opposed to the heads when the time comes, but it looks like an easier way to get it bolted on.

so i picked up a B body intake/rails which i understand are the proper rails for a c4 L98 swap retaining the large cap distributor. even to pay someone to do the modifications to the bolt pattern if you can't do it and doing the rest yourself is a hell of alot cheaper than buying a miniram.

Gee, Ray... you really think he is doing something perverted at the musuem??? during a dinner event?

As for the heads... here is my take - why remove unless you really have to? The intake is easier to work on, too.

I think you will really like the LT1 intake. You may want to think about making up a remote EGR mount... the egr does two very important things - lowers the chance of getting detonation and keeps NOx in check.
