What are you looking to do? The have wraps that you can put around the headers to help keep the heat down. Is the interior getting too hot?

I considered a wrap for the headers but the headers won't look very appealing when at a car show. I am thinking a deflecter heat shield might work. Does anyone know of one that is commercially available.
If not i think i will fabricate one out of aluminum and try it out
THANKS FOR YOUR REPLY..

the best heat shield is the one that goes on the header. What I am referring to is a Jet-Hot coating or something of that nature. It leaves the header protected from external damage and potential rusting, plus, it holds the heat inside. Win-win.

And to boot, some of the coatings are shinny

grassroots motorsports built a bad-assed Triumph Spitfire with a seriously custom suspension and a Mazda Rotary engine/tranny and rear end (IRS from a RX-7 Mk2).

They had the suspension arms Jet-Hot coated for the durability and satin finish. Looked GREAT.

unfortunetly, there isn't a good pic of the coated suspension arms. They were done, IIRC, during a final sorting of the suspension.

This is a legitimate concern. Excessive heat is slow death to a starter and many other things. I'm not sure if it'd work on the L98 starter but on my dinky LT1 starter I used a heat shield for a 5" exhaust pipe from a large diesel truck. They are used on the trucks where a hose or wiring harness may need to pass fairly close to the pipe. They attach to the pipe (or your starter) with one large hose clamp. These shields are just about the length of the starter and work great. I can also still remove the cable and wire from the starter w/o even having to remove the shield. The shield's easily removable too, if need be. Mine is stainless but some truck manufacturers use aluminum ones too. Any truck or truck parts dealer should have them.
Stay away from wrapping headers on a street car. The wrap will trap moisture and rot the pipes. Of course coated headers are always an excellent idea but even then protecting the starter and other things is always a good thing. I also have any wiring, hoses, etc. in that area covered with a flexible, reflective covering.
