Just saw this stuff at Pep Boys. I know its probably not worth the can its in, but has anyone ever used it? Its like $20 for a can of black.

The thing is that it is a base coat-clear coat system but yet its laquer? Crazy.

Duplicolor isn't too shabby in my experience, but I haven't used that specific one.

I would avoid using it on anything remotely flexible though, as it tends to be very brittle and would crack off.

What are you painting?

I have not used it yet, but have read several good reviews on it. Myself I do like painting with laquer, dries fast and easy to repair those "oh no" moments. Good price also.

Eh, I was thinking of doing the '88 with it just to get it all one color. It's been 15 years since I painted a car.The last one I painted was a '76 vette LOL

Adding some to post#2. Might want to check with a paint supply store and add some flex-agent. At least on the bumpers. Otherwise you will get the spider-web cracking shortly after.

I have fiberglass front and rear so it shouldn't be a problem at all.

Thanks!

I have plenty of room in my garage to build a make-shift booth. I think I am going to buy some and paint a old C3 hood I have and see what it turns out like.

I agree with CC about Duplicolor products being good and I use a lot of them but I don't think I'd go for the lacquer on an entire car.
You may want to look into the Kirker brand of paint. You can get a single stage acrylic urethane gal of black for $38 and the activator for $20. You'd end up with a much more chip resistant paint job.
