I have a 383 LT-1 with LT-4 heads and a Vortech running 12psi. I know the 'best' answer to tuning this setup is FAST (or similar) with 2-Bar, however the car runs very well (traps at 118mph with a 2.2 second 60'.. and no, I cant drive :-). I heard that "a lot of 92-93 guys tune for boost using a 1-bar MAP". The car doesnt knock and I am using a 2-stage alky kit.

Anyway, I'm looking for some orientation around the tune, esspecially what the technique is for dealing with boost situations (e.g., are all boost-situations just taken care of at the VE/Spark for 100kpa?).

I have Ostrich 2 from Moates and over the next few months I will get a WB O2 to help with WOT tuning. In the meantime I'm looking to tweak a few things because Datamaster shows its running rich when not in boost.

Thanks for any advice!

I have my advance locked in under the 100kpa column to 26 degrees.

I use PE fuel to add fuel during boost.

I enable PE at 30% throttle, and 92kpa.

On a boosted application, you will never have the need for PE fuel when not in boost, so you can even lower the PE threshold to 99kpa. (which would be 1 in the bias setting).

PE spark is zero'd out.

Most of my PE tweaks are RPM based, not CTS based.

If you have an SA vs MAT table you can use it to pull timing in the event your alky fails.

Thanks Joe! I'll go check out my tune, maybe more questions to follow.

Hi Joe,

Most of this makes sense, just a couple more questions:

I cant see a PE spark table (I have TunerPro and CATS RT) - what is it called in the program?

"if I have a SA vs MAT table" - this idea that it is possible to add 'behavior' or extra 'lookup' tables is puzzling to me, does it mean the core ECU needs to be hacked to take into account other values?

Thanks!

What year is the car?

I'll check on both tables.

Looking at the tunercat TDF, there is no PE spark adder table, or MAT spark corrections.
