When speed is held steady at or above 61 mph I get a slight hesitation. If I accelerate it doesnt happen.

Welcome to the forum!

Hopefully somebody can chime in with the answer here shortly. How old are the plugs and wires?

Injectors?

Seems like a slight vacuum leak might be the problem.

Using a short piece of tubing or garden hose, listen for leaks while the engine is idling.

Also try checking the intake tubes and plenum bolts for tightness.

Good luck

Sounds like you may be describing lock up cycling of the torque converter or an engine miss, but as others indicate your description isn't very clear.
The term hesitation normally describes lack of response to throttle movement on acceleration which confuses the issue for me.

Thanks for the responses and I will try to give more information. New plugs, wires, cap and rotor. 55K miles. injectors are orginal. Car sat in a garage for last nine years with only approx. 9500 miles driven. Added a bottle of injector cleaner. intend to add another next fill-up.
It was suggested that I check for vacuum leak. where specifically? hesitation happens at 61 and speeds above held steady. Can also experience issue when car is stopped and in nuetral reving engine to high rpm and again held steady.

Sounds like a miss-fire to me, after sitting 9 years there could be alot of things to cause that.

Clean the MAF sensor, check the coil, check the oxygen sensor, check the EGR function to be sure its fully closed when it should be, replace the fuel filter, change the oil and filter, fill the tank with good quality fuel, take it to the race track and flog the tits off it for about 150-200 miles. That should clear its throat.

That only applies to the Fleshy Kind. The fiberglass version is fair game.

With great care, use some mineral turps or methylated spirits, and clean it with a very soft paint brush. Use extreme care not to damage the wire.

Case,
Can I use a typical aerosol cleaner typically use to clean trottle body for MAF?

Yes mate you can use that, and that might even be a better option for it too, just use caution that the pressure isnt too high. If this MAF still has screens on it, remove them.

Did giving it a flogging help to clear it out abit? If not, ill bet you had fun doing it eh?

We may have to discuss custom Harleys abit further at some time, i have alot of mates with Harleys over here.
