I'm in the middle of swapping the heads on my 85 and wanted to chase the threads for the head bolts but I'm having trouble finding a tap. I believe the bolts are 11m x 1.75. Does anyone know if this is correct?

Never mind. I assumed the bolt was metric but right after writing the post I did a little research on Summit and saw that all bolts for 76 to 2000 were the same. Went out to the garage and found they were just plain old 7/16 inch bolts.

Don't use a real tap. Use a specific chaser tool. They cut totally different and you don't want to compromise the integrity of those bolts. I would also suggest ARP moly bolts at the very least.

It's amazing how much you use a set of chasers after you buy them, especially on engines.
This one's from Craftsman.

I bought the same set when I did my engine. Even though I only used a couple of the chasers they will definitley come in handy in the future and the set is not that expensive if I recall.

Yep, I run every threaded hole on a bare block with these before any assembly.

IIRC, this set was on sale for $39, it has course/fine SAE and metric.
