Hello,

I am working on trying to repair my 15 year old briggs and straton leaf blower; thus far unsuccessfully. It ran three weeks ago, sat till now and it won't run. This is the part that gets me. Fuel is fresh, and I have spark. I sprayed Eather (I spelled it wrong I know) into the spark plug hole (new plug too) and it won't even kick over for a second. I am thinking even though I have spark maybe the condenser went bad... so I may be seeing spark but its not enough to ignite the starting fluid.

What do you think?

P.S. I bought another corvette today... pictures to follow,

Dan

The most common problem is with the carburetor or the diaphram. I'm guessing this is a 4 stroke walk behind. What color is the spark. If it looks strong you should be alright. I typically take the carb off and spray it out. When it is off check the diaphram under it (it is also the fuel pump). These will strech out.

Yea, on the diaphram (if it has one). If it has spark but won't fire ether, something's strange. I usually use carb clean to get this kinda stuff running. 5 second shot in the plug hole.

If you pull and pull and no start, the plug should be damp.

Doesn't have a fuel tank shut off that you forgot about, does it?

Good Idea's but shouldn't it run off the starting fluid then die. This is a really strange problem because I have the three things you need for an engine to run, yet it isn't running for a second. I have spark, I have fuel, I have air????

Doesn't make sense. Spark looks bluish yellow,

Yea, should run on the ether. Wonder if a valve's stuck open (if it's a 4 stroke). Put your finger over the hole & see if you have compression.

I put a small capful of gas into the carb. You will have to pull it a few times to see if it will fire. Also on the 4 stroke carbs some models you have to put the bolt back in if you have the cleaner off.

Good idea, I will give that a try and post back later.

Odd... A lack of compression would result in a nearly effortless pull.

I am still thinking it's the coil or capacitor.
