do they "test" their parts on the intended car, or they use they same shit just change the housing, reason is my ahole frenemy said the Tokico Hp I have coming via ups, sucked in his Maxima and the lumina's were the shit.

I say I read some good comments about this "budget" shock.
I guess I need to have them in the car....and would be good to know Tokico, "knows" it is going in a Corvette, and make it behave not like a Buick.....

Weight, spring rate, and moment ratio all come into play.

So they SHOULD be valved and tested on different models

Whether that's done or not is another thing.

Weither they test on a specific car model is probably a coin flip. They won't be spending the engineering bucks that testing costs. They may test a shock on one model say a Chev pickup, look at the suspension design of a Dodge and figure if they plan to chsnge the valving oriface sizes or the thickness of the shim stack. Most of that will be done using the curves from their shock dynos. And, for sure they buy their competitors shocks and dyno them.

But they probably do way more testing on their offroad stuff.

Same thing with Bilstein, GM & Bilstein design the shocks for the C4 and they're good enough for the street. But if you want good ones you buy revalved ones from someone like Doug Rippie.

Any of the "street" type brands will work about the same. None of these manufacturers put big bucks into designing low priced shocks.
