What kind of lubrication should you use for the automatic garage door track? Mine is squeaking like crazy. I've a tendency to spray WD40 on everything but I'm wondering if something a little heavier might be more appropriate. It's a Liftmaster, if that's any help. I suppose I could spend a few minutes doing an internet search but this is an opportunity to get my post count up as well as the site's so Andy can charge advertisers more money...

Thanks!

I would use Anti-Seize.

You mean like the stuff you'd use on spark plugs in aluminum heads?

yea. It's long lasting, very slippery and will not break down over time or due to weather.

I like white lithium spray grease, available at any parts store. Easier to apply than anti-seize and not as likely to mess up your clothes if you brush against the track which the wife will appreciate.

Thanks Andy, Jim. Actually, I should have been more specific. It's not so much the rollers in the two side tracks as the top center track that the motor and chain are attached to. Any reason I couldn't use either on that track and the chain?

Nope, just don't go crazy or it will drip on your car.

Thanks. Actually, I found a small tube of lithium grease so I just smeared it along both sides of the track and did the trick...

If you really want to get serious I'd go to a motorcycle shop and get some motorcycle chain lube.

I'll do that, thanks. I didn't lube the chain, just the track itself. And if the track needed it, I'm sure the chain could use it too...
