However, if they are, they should move fore/aft and up down with little more than an electric motor whine....

It's rained me out for 3 weeks straight...

Tonight it's a balmy 85*F and there is only a 10% chance of thunder showers.

I just checked the DA and it's currently like almost 2200FT...

http://www.dragtimes.com/da-density-a ... &year=2011&time=4:55%20PM

I'm probally not going to set any personal records, but at least I'll be racing. If your in the area come on out, sit for a spell in my pit box and say Hi.

Will,

Once I get settled into my new office down in Quantico, I'll meet you at the drag strip one night and check out the car. I'll be working down there at least once a week starting next week.

So I'll just do my follow up in this thread since I don't have much to talk about.

DA hung around 2000FT all night and the temp just wasn't going down enough to do much. Also the track prep was non existant to night.

My first pass was pretty good. I raced a guy with a 68 Camaro that was also on drag radials and he went a 8.79@84mph. Considering the conditions my car ran well and the MPH was right near where I left off last time. I left from almost idle and had to peddle the car in low gear to keep the wheel spin under control.

60ft------2.042
330-------5.235
1/8th-----7.786
mph-------98.69

My second and last pass was a hot lap. As I came back around and up to the staging lanes there I was lined up against a new Shelby. This car is modified to the hilt. Guy said he had 615RWHP. He was on Nitton Drag Radials so I knew he'd be hooked up pretty good once we got going and was going to be tough to out HP on the big end but I wanted to run against him to see how my car stacked up. Right from the get go I could tell it was going to be a tough race. I left from about 2500RPM and cut a good light (as did he). I felt the tires turn loose as soon as I fed it the initial clutch hit... for all of first gear I was slipping the clutch and running half throttle.... I could see in my preferial he was right there next to me. I grabbed second gear and he actually pulled a nose out infront of me for a split second then I pulled about half a car on him, as I hit third gear I couldn't see him but I could hear that blower behind me.... As I crossed the line I lifted early (didn't want to skunk him too bad) and could just see him in my passanger side mirror about 1 car length back. It was a good race and the dude has a very nice and very fast car.

92 Corvette ----------------- Shelby Mustang

60ft-----2.178 -------------- 2.020
330------5.403 -------------- 5.376
1/8th----7.984 -------------- 7.998
mph------96.52 -------------- 94.52

I called it a day at that point. I want to look some things over on my car really good before I make any more passes. During the burnout my car turned sideways and I could tell the drivers sider tire quit spinning.... All during the run my car felt twitchy and like it was constantly on the edge of blowing the tires away. I think I didn't get the tires completely heated up enough or maybe my posi shit the bed or maybe the track prep was just that bad or maybe it was something entirely different.

I talked a while with the guy with the Shelby and he wanted to know what I ran in the 1/4 (damn everybody wants to know)and I told him I've never had it on a big track.... he told me that his car has been 11.20@127mph and the way I pulling him in 3rd gear my car should run 130mph easily.... which is about what I think it should run.

Anyways I had a good time. I got to thank my lovely lady for shooting the video (she is getting much better at it). I'll post it up as soon as I can upload it to my photobucket.

Will - those are awesome times, congrats. What kind of HP/TQ are you making, and what gears do you have?

Thanks for the kind words.

Honestly this weeks T&T was total crap. I was almost half a second faster 3 weeks ago. The lack of track prep just killed my 60fts and ET.... but at least with no traction I can't scatter the rear end.

My car made 478RWHP and 417RWTQ before I made some pretty signifigant changes to the engine. I'd like to think it's picked up maybe 10-20RWHP but I haven't bothered to re-dyno it or even change the tune yet.

I have a 4.11 Yukon ring and pinion.

Thanks man.

Given equal conditions I was really happy to be able to out muscle something with that kind of HP.

My car really hits it stride in 3rd gear. I put two tenths on him in the back half (he was actually a tenth faster in the first 330). I'd like to run that Shelby from a roll some time. I think the Vetts superior aero would would allow me to really pull away from him.

BTW this guy was a pretty savy drag racer. He instantly called me out for lifting early at the finish line when we were comparing time slips.
