Has anyone ever removed the hard
line that is attached to the front of
the fuel rail? If you have, how was
it done and can it be replaced?

sure it can be replaced.

It is bolted to the front of the fuel rail, use conventional wrenches to remove.

Then there is the bracket... that is bolted to the front of the manifold... next up, removing the ac compressor so you can get the lines out, but first! You have to remove the fuel line from the bottom, down by the old school fuel pump bracket.

that should allow you to pull the lines up from the bottom.

Thanks bogus, as usual I didn't make
myself clear, I'm good at that.
What I need to know is if you can
remove the hard line that is in the
fuel rail itself.

oh, geez... no way.

you are better off getting a new rail if that's the case... I donno how you would replace that. The rail is machined from a block, so I don't think you have any options, really.

I figured just that but it isn't
machined from one material.
The rail is aluminum and the
line is steel. I want to get mine
chromed but the problem lies in
the fact that it takes two different
chemicals to prepare the different
metals and the aluminum cleaner
etches the steel which may discolor
the chrome. The plater is going to
give it his best shot and see how it
turns out. Thanks for the response.

Here is a pic of what I'm talking
about. Look at the single rail on
the left. The short steel line in the
front is what I want to remove if
possible.

Good question, and I dont have an answer. Does it appear to be pressed in? Dont think it comes apart separate as the fuel rail itelf does (it can be disassembled).

It almost has to be pressed in.
Oh well, the plater is going to see
what he can do with it anyway.
I want both pieces chromed but
the prep process is the glitch.

Chuck, I am pretty sure those lines are machined/pressed in from the factory and can not be removed. I had my rail in pieces last year and that was the only part that did not come loose.
