This is like New Orleans all over again with people finding out way after it happened.

I hope these people get some relief. All I can think is that could have been us. There are places around us that look similar with eroded roads. I heard rumor yesterday that we had 50 trees down just in the city limits of Chesapeake Beach. North Beach is just a mile north of us and they still have some roads closed and flooded homes.

If things are so devastated, then why are people making jokes and things about the LACK of devastation? This is horrible for those involved.

Letty - Don't know why people are making jokes... I guess because the storm actually had less wind power than originally expected. Although, it still dropped a good bit of rain. It was downgraded to a Cat 1 hurricane and even a tropical storm by the time it hit New England. So some assholes that were not in its direct path thought it was a lame duck, however if you were in its path the results were devastating depending on your situation.

I'm thinking that we were so lucky because we were near a large body of water and the streams and rivers all drain toward us. However, if you live in a low lying area near one of those swollen streams or rivers you could be in a world of hurt as all the rain waters collect and make their journey to the sea or wherever...

Same reason they made jokes after the challenger explosion, or after 9/11, or after any tragedy. #1 humor is a coping mechanism #2 some people are just a-holes.

Regardless, there was a lot of damage and still had many lives lost for nothing. I feel for all who were affected.
