The only thing, I don't think they would do ABS testing, if that's what you want, too.

But for basic powertrain, should work fine...

If I had only those two to choose from, the Sears unit, with flash updates... however, Sears is in bad shape, and I don't know who will support this if Sears takes a financial shit.

Bob, you may want to check with Matthew, he has an Actron and uses it on his neighbors cars (silly boy).
I use Autoxray but only have a reader.
The Equus - you may want to check that part number for pricing at Summit.

There's a vid here on the Actron, scroll to the bottom of the page.

I'm a fan of Actron tools, been using them for many years.
Had the old cartridge style scanner back in the early 80's and it still works good. A few years ago I bought a CP 9145, OBDII and OBDI. Does everthing I need! Plus the local parts house usually has them in stock.

Bill, Thanks for the video. That's helpful.

Andy, you might be right about Sears, but they're owned by Kmart. As you suggest, they may have a questionable future.

I've always liked Actron as well. As a matter of fact, I still have an Actron Dwell/Tach I bought in 1972(?) and it still works great. At least I don't have to have one tomorrow, so I still have time to research this.

BTW, I'm not limiting my choices to the two in my opener, those were the only ones I knew of at the time. I'm more than willing to look at others as well.

This was the thread from before talking about scanners, but has to do with OBDII.

http://www.corvetteguruforum.com/modu ... id=175569#forumpost175569

I have this scanner:

http://www.amazon.com/Actron-CP9180-A ... -Capability/dp/B000KG8KB0

I like it, but it doesn't read OBDI.

Apparently they have another version that does that is similar to mine, I haven't used it:
