I tore it all apart and found the hub of my friction disk was missing some springs. And that I also think was causing the pressure plate to not release. But I have come to the conclusion that I am not buying another Carolina clutch. I found a clutch masters or a spec that seem reasonable ($500ish) but don't really know how I feel about either because I haven't really heard anything about clutchmaster and mixed reviews of spec. And input would be great!!

I use Spec. Have had good luck with them.

Had a Stage 3 in my 92 from 2005 to 2007 and put 25K miles on it... Stock engine with a 150 shot and drag raced every weekend. Perfect when I pulled it out and I still keep it for a back up.

Current Stage 3 has about 12K miles on it behing my 383. Well over 75 passes at the track.

Only failure I have had with Spec was a TOB where the collar cracked in blackharleymans 96 with the 383 I built.... it was a Stage 2+ and he had about 25K miles on it.... when we swapped that engine into his Grand Sport last year Spec did him right with a deal on a new clutch.

I had a SPEC years ago, and had fitment issues. But that was 2002.

As for Carolina... well, they resell SPEC... think about that.

Have you looked into Mcleod or Centerforce?

They my resell spec for certain cars but the horsepower levels and physical appearance of their different stages for the c4 are totally different from anything I've seen on specs website. Or they make a cheaper product for them to sell.

So I decided to call Carolina clutch and see what they had to say. They had me text a picture of the clutch and after receiving the pic they called me back and offered to help me out on the purchase of a new setup and gave me free shipping. So that made my day. It will be here Thursday and I just got a new insert for my flywheel today. I hope to be running again by this weekend.
