Hey guys im back for more corvette information! But first check out these Pics.

I now have a 383, heads (Dart) a big cam and obviously more horsepower. Me and my mechanic were talking and he said the computer and fuel injectors are gonna have a hard time maximizing the cars potential so i got a second opinion from a great friend that owns 2 corvettes and is also a mechanic.... Our idea is 1. carburetor and intake http://www.summitracing.com/parts/edl-2601 The carburetor is a QuadraJet I know that many people have bad opinions on these but some people love them! 2. Air intake (Closed housing run into my cool air intake 3 new Distributor http://www.summitracing.com/parts/msd-8362/overview/ My question is if i do it right can it be a unique awesome well built system vs my now fuel injected? |

Another note... Please post some pro's and con's opinions anything is helpful wrong or right.
I like this idea because of the looks and the unique style that i am going for but i dont wanna get myself into trouble with a good knowledge of what could happen! Always, Thanks! |

Without the camshaft specs, size of the cyl heads and compression ratio no one here can tell you if the Fuel Injection is going to hold it back or not.
I can tell there that there are Fuel Injection systems that are far superior to carbs in driveability and on most stuff (ie STREET CARS) Fuel Injection is capable of making identical peak HP. Unless your building some kind of budget racing car, or restoring/hot rodding an old car, using a carb is taking one giant step backwards. Will |

ill get the specs up here tomorrow on all requested.
i was told the same thing for 3grand i can have the best fuel injection system i want but im not in that position. looks style and unique is what im going for with the best performance in budget i just dont want a carb to degrade my car more than the tuned port 85 system |

I agree that the stock TPI is not ideal for your setup with a 383. But a carb, as Will said, is a step back as far as driveability, fuel economy, and emissions.
In my opinion you should be looking at an aftermarket intake system such as a miniram, used superram, first fuel injection, stealth ram, etc. The computer will need at minimum a new tune. Most guys with modded motors in an 85 repin the ECM to the 86-89 (better system, faster processing) or run an aftermarket setup. Unfortunately that all costs money. Something that needs to be taken in to account when rebuilding a motor. Sure you can carb it a lot cheaper, but it won't be "better". Matthew |

Hey Chris, Why don't you come over in the next few days and let's discuss this. You've gone too far with the car to do something now that may result in you not enjoying it as much as you can. I think I have a pretty good idea what you intend to do with the car when it's driveable (it's never "finished"!), let's discuss it, okay? |
