The amount of things going on last week in Monterey blows away what happens in Reno at Hot August Nights,

Thursday a.m. I found out that Julian was working on the Pantera at 1 a.m., pulling the headers on the motor so he could JB-Weld the fuel tank to fix a leak (J3- you're good to take the '85 on a trip).

The Pantera is a rare one. DeTomaso produced about 9,300 Panteras from around 1971 to 1981.

Only 250 of them were the GT5, different bodywork and a higher horsepower 351 Cleveland.

Cruising in 5 point racing harnesses, in racing seats with loud pipes...........priceless.

We hit the hotel at 5:30 p.m.
There were 20 Corvettes in the parking lot. This hotel is in Salinas,Ca. about 15 miles from Monterey and the track.

We headed up the Monterey twisties to the Baha Cantina for the cruise in - it was a mind blower.
I forgot to take the camera. Unbelievable number of bikes and cars. Exotics, hotrods, race cars on the street.
Just a huge party.

And this happens every Thursday nite, but this was a special nite.

The Italiano Concorso.

This Monterey event is held at the Laguna Seca Golf Ranch (a much better use for a golf course than a place for me to loose 22 balls in 18 holes ).

When the schedule permitted, I've practiced at the race track on Sat. morning, hit the Golf Ranch for 18 in the afternoon, qualified and raced on Sunday.

This is going to take multiple posts.
I'm serious about there being $80 to $100 million dollars in cars at this concourse.

Here are the Panteras (nice folks, not one bitched about my Corvette shirt ).

There were 40 Panteras there, not one trashy one so, figure $60,000 to $100,000 times 40.

A while back, I posted a pic of Pete's Porsche GT3 RSR (the race car for the street), he sold that and has a BAC Mono on order. This one is the only one in the U.S.

I now have an invitation to drive it at Spring Mountain when Pete picks up his car in December.
