mileage?

I would think check the harness over from top to bottom, replacing any bad connectors or weak split loom.

If it's an automatic, I would get the tranny out and have it gone over.

Mileage thing, the steering rack... otherwise, PS hoses.

Check the radiator out and the AC system - the condenser gets all gnarly after a few years.

clean everything... degrease... maybe even shoot a coat of fresh paint on the frame.

If you have the budget, I would consider a brake upgrade.

Perfect time to inspect the rubber section of the fuel lines.

Checking harness over from top to bottom is a very good idea. Does a dealer exist where you can buy a new harness for a '85 C4? I also toy with the idea changing it to a newer one, maybe late 1980 or early 1990 ...

I don't know how "replaceable" the harness is on these cars. There isn't a central plug, so the entire dashboard has to come out. It's an integrated mess... truly...

On the scale of 1 being easy, and 10 being brain surgery, this is an easy 12.
