OK, I decided to do a limited, (stop laughing) mod list and I'm ready to do the deal in the enxt week or two.

Cant afford both now but I wont to do one of the two lines listed below.

Which would you do now? I am leaning toward the cam and intake package with a tune

1. GT12 or similar Cam & Springs install with a new ported intake & TB & tune

or

2. LT Headers/cats with a newly ported Intake & TB & tune

My tuning guy says 450 at the wheels +/- is the result from LT headers, Cam, ported intake and TB, with tune

There are a couple of speed shops around here that specialize in LS motors. They get big results from headers and exhaust with a tune.

Personally I would do headers. I think LG makes a really nice setup for your car.

I know a lot of guys with a C5 add a converter - is that popular with the C6 as well?

I can't say, I do not read much of the automatic tranny threads.

But headers and ported intake/tb will net up to 415rwhp or so with a tune on a n LS2

Exactly! my 85 had 430 rwhp and it was plenty, the 460 rwtq was the real deal, in retrospect, I would take TQ over hp forever, but, big TQ breaks stuff too

The LSx series of engines are absolutely amazing.

Consider this... a stock LS1 was putting out 345hp (c1997).

Put on a set of AFR heads, cam, exhaust, and that motor is now nearing 500 hp.

Yeah, that was part of the reason i sold the 85, my 406's kept up with all the new models until the LS engines got perfected and they were making big HP in limited Cubes.

If this engine ever comes out I'll do a LSX-454-CI

I have read about some block failures... could have been an early run problem? Or am I mixing up with the 502/502? Worth researching, either way.

But the thought of a power dense big cube small block is really sexy, to say the least.
