I had the instrument cluster in my 86 go out on me (no illumination, turn signal and hi beam indicators on constantly). Well I sent it to Bryan at Batee and it was a burnt connector in the cluster. Had that repaired along with new xenon bulbs and photocell. Fought the cold today and put it all back together. Instrument cluster looks great, very bright and readable in the daylight. Have not driven it yet due to the fact it's snowing right now but everything that should work seems to be fine.
Good turnaround, reasonable cost and he kept me in the loop on what was happening. If you have a cluster issue, I recommend you check with him. Worth the $$ IMO. Paul |

Good to hear!
His website has always had good information on it that many people have used to diagnose/repair their clusters. |

Not just the instrument cluster fix, did some other things. One was stain the fake speaker outlets in the dash. Dash was black and they were denim in color. I got some black dye, pulled them and dyed them black to match. They came out pretty good.
The other things was fixing some of the plastic bezels over the center console and over the cluster. I found a product call Plastex online in black. It didn't work exactly as shown on the website but I was able to repair some cracks radiating out from some of the screw holes. Additionally some of the tabs with j-nuts that the dash screws go into that were missing. I used it to make the missing part and got the j-nuts at OReilley auto parts. You have to be careful with the solvent but I did fix them so it's better than it was. Now if it would just warm up enough to take it out for a run so I can confirm it's all fixed. Oh well, tomorrow is supposed to be 3 above zero tomorrow for a high and there's light snow out right now. |

I've died my speaker covers twice now and they keep fading to blue.
Good tip on the plastic. But I think my dash is actually made of peanut brittle. |

sounds like some nice projects getting done!
GM used the nastiest plastics available... total junk... The speaker grills turn an odd shade of purple here... |
