Purchased a 1986 convertible not running. When I got it home i realized that the previous owner installed a 383 crate motor. The air cleaner and mass airflow are restriction the airflow. there isnt much out there on the aftermarket and I still have to use the stock mass airflow. Anybody know of a conversion to a larger mass airflow or to a map sensor?

I would be shocked if the MAF was causing restriction on a 383 crate. That MAF is able to flow over 1000 CFM.
The air filter? another story... but the MAF? I have me doubts. If anything, the 383 still has the stock TPI intake, THAT is your air restrictor... More details on the build would be helpful. |

The MAF and air cleaner don't restrict the motor, as stated above. I have the stock MAF and air cleaner with a cut lid on my 383 and it has plenty of power.
Welcome to the site and let us know if you have any questions about getting the car running. |
