Hey guys.
On the passenger side of my car I could see drips of oil on the head and see that the valve cover is somewhat covered in oil. Not sure where its coming from but I have noticed Im losing quite a bit of oil and seems to be dripping on my driveway. Not much but noticable. I took my valve cover off and Im assuming it was leaking from the gaskets so i went ahead and replaced my crappy valve cover gasket with someone a little better I guess. Im hoping that will take care of it but not too sure. Any other ideas? Thanks |

Clean it up well and wait to see if you have fixed it. Could also be the intake. Add some of that UV dye to your oil that shows up under a black light.

Its a LT1.
On the driver side its nice and clean but the passenger side head is sort of dirty with oil and well i noticed something too. you know that device that connects to the Throttle Body and valve cover? forgive me i dont remember the name. It seemed to be dirty with oil too and part of the TB was dirty on the side. This sucks but nothing too bad that I have seen. Any hlep would be appreciated. |

That device is the PCV valve and associated tubing. Pull the valve and shake it. If it doesn't rattle, replace it.

The PCV valve is in the left side of the intake on an LT1. This tube however is the air supply side of the crankcase ventilation system. I fear from the way you're describing things that you may have blow-by issues. But do indeed inspect the PCV valve for proper operation, it's hose, grommet and other related things..

Thanks for the correction. I haven't looked at it in a while. |

actually yes I failed to mentioned I do have blowby issues. I just didnt think it was that bad. The rebuilt engine is about a year old and it hasn't given me a problem but i figured it wasn't built as good as it should of.
so now my concern is what should i do to minimize the blowby other than a rebuild :thumbleft:  |

If it is ring leakage, i don't know of much. Do a leakdown test and see how bad it is.

clean it up, inspect the PCV valve and see what happens.
If the leaks come back, then reclean and add some of the dye to it. Finally, run the leak down to determine if the rings are toast. |
