This LONNNGGG message came up talking about how it had to check for inconsisten files on drive C. What the heck does that mean. It says its not required but is strongly reccomended. Is it a virus or a hoax or what? The computer is about 4 months old, I have antivirus and stuff....Seems to be working fine.....Any ideas on why that weird message came up? Never have heard of that and this is my third computer. If it helps its a laptop by HP......Compaq makes it...... It's been kinda troublesome since I have had it but yea they checked it out and said nothing was wrong with it.

No just that I had inconsisten files on drive C and that they were being processed in step 1 then step 2 then step 3. I did hit shut down then it said windows is shutting down but I hit the power button and closed the lid. Maybe that had something to do with it? When I first got the message a bit ago, I ignored it then I rebooted it and the same message came up, then I let it run its course and I rebooted it again, and now it all seems fine. Weird.

Turning off the power while Windows is trying to shut itself down can corrupt the system it uses to keep track of where all the files are. What you saw after you rebooted was Windows repairing itself. Sometimes it doesn't always work...

Vista and HP is the brand. Ive beent rying all day to get a printer to work on it. It's by Lexmark and it wont freaking work even though it says its vista compatible..... My head hurts. I have a HP printer hooked up now but it is on the kooks itself! It works on our dell but not the HP.....Anyway.....The message never popped back up so it must be ok now. The lexmark wont work on anything though so......It has a fax machine, phone, printer and a shredder all built into it and has a 145 pages of instructions/details/warranty info with it! Insane....

Have you tried downloading and installing the latest drivers from Lexmark's web site?
