I got an EGR code, lots of variable to check. So I did a quick vacuum check on the EGR, hear some hissing but was not sure if it was bad. I bought a new one and did the vacuum check and the diaphragm actually moves enough to see and feel. New EGR was $54.00

Naw, just a FYI to determine EGR valve operation, I'm sure there are more techincal methods, but for the average joe, Put a hose on the EGR nipple, suck, and watch for movement.
