jsup Code 44 and check guages light

Ok, first problem. check gauges light comes on and all gauges seem to be working.

Second, I put in a Bosch 13190 heated O2 sensor. This is a 3 wire O2 sensor.

The two white wires went to power and ground.

The black wire went to the original O2 sensor, as directed by people here.

Any suggestions how to resolve the code 44?

I will check the physical, meaning wires up against the exhaust and such.

The problems are unrelated as the check gauges light came on BEFORE the O2 switch.

How much gas in the tank?

I noticed that the "check gauges" doesn't mean to check that the gauges are working, but rather what they are reading(high coolant temp, low fuel, etc).

The oil temp doesn't seem to be coming up as it should. It is reading, just low. Perhaps that's it?

It means there's a guage out of spec.

Do you have a full exhaust on this thing yet?

my code 44 on my 91 a couple years ago was a fuel lean code ( I believe it was lean) and it ended up being my injectors being bad, Damn Multecs lol .

Good-luck

Are you saying that would solve the problem?

I had to deal with the leaking VC gaskets, I'm not taking it for the exhaust until I got the VC issue fixed.

Also, as long as it has codes I'm not driving it.

If it is a lean condition, I could screw something else up.

Once the SES is off, and the check gauges light goes out, THEN I can take it for the exhaust.

UNLESS you can tell me definitively that I can drive it about 10 miles with no problems and installing the exhaust will solve my SES problems.

OK, I read the FSM. I'm going to the shop this week to make a date for the exhaust.

Nothin personal, but it is the interweb and I can't believe everything I read face value.

The reason I never got a code before is becuase the car never went into closed loop.

I'm going to have the exhaust shop set the fuel pressure too. They are more than just an exhaust shop so they can handle this minor stuff.

The VCs seem to be fine and not leaking.

I'll have AAA flatbed the car there.
