I was changing out my Power steering pump and it turned into a Smog pump....but that is another thread (see my thread in C4 Tech)

Anyway, I do a lot of Contract work on weekends. I've become so accustomed to using my cordless drills for tightening nuts and bolts for speed.

When I drop back and start working on my car, it seems odd at first but really, using those drills makes things so much faster......hooking up the air and using the air ratchet quickly points out the cumbersome air hose dragging all over the place. Not to mention the air ratchet only goes to 40 pounds anyway. The Drill is not much further behind that. so if you need to torque it, you have to change tools anyway.

When I'm assembling, you'll find one drill with a ~16mm socket on it in my left hand and a 6mm Allen in the other drill in my right hand. get 'em lined up and squeeze the trigger......done.

One of my buds from the contracting job uses an impact drill...that thing is a bit slower bit it will torque it down for you if you let it...

Well I'm not really saying much...just bringing it up as I think I'm the only one I know that would use a Drill for these types of jobs. I kinda wanted to see what you guys thought.

The drill is useless though if you don't have a bunch of clearance. I guess an angle drill would work, but really the air ratchet fits almost as many places as a regular one. You are right that the torque rating is really disappointing on it though. I got the most expensive one I could get and it does 40 ftlbs on a good day.

There is this thing....it's called a "Swivel"

it goes on the drive before the socket......

I am just giving you shit

Yes the clearance hampers most efforts. But four easy to reach 10mm screws......sure is quick with that drill.
