I'm guilty of not cleaning my once beautiful Magnaflow muffler and tips for over six months. At 50 miles a day, seven days a week, they got some bad buildup that "Simple Green" wouldn't touch.

I read the label on "Easy Off" and didn't say not to use on polished stainless steel.

Masked off the paint and the garage floor, sprayed on the mufflers and tips....waited two hours to soak in and washed off with soap and water.

They look like new again. I'll use it again.

Wow, nice tip, (pun intended).

You have guts. If I had seen where it said don't use on polished stainless, I'd have put that stuff back in the kitchen. I use metal polish on my Magnaflows, and don't drive near as much as you, and mine are a little brown.

I had the same problem just a week ago. Its amazing what one New York Winter could do to a car. There was rust caked on the exhaust system. Mine came out really nice but I don't know how long its going to stay that way. I did not have polished stainless just regular magnaflows so I got out the scotch brite, and some P21s wheel cleaner and got to work. Then I polished the tips with mothers billet polish, and coated them with Zaino ZCS. So far, after a week, they look as good as when they were done a week ago. We'll see.

Whenever I have rust, scale, and or gunk to clean from chrome or Stainless I first use a brass wire brush...takes the rust, scale, and crud right off and doesn't scratch...

Cheers,
JC
