Whenever I have rust, scale, and or gunk to clean from chrome or Stainless I first use a brass wire brush...takes the rust, scale, and crud right off and doesn't scratch...

Cheers,

Actually, the engine being nothing but an air pump...it is a generalized way of measuring the volume air the engine can pump/flow/pass in a minute...it does not account for v.e. or the weight of the air being moved...

I really didn't want to get into a discussion about the principles of science relating to this where we all start quoting a bunch of basically meaningless terms and definitions from books or classes...I'm just trying to find the availability of things based on some questions I have...

What I read may not translate well to you from inside my head but I have done a few real world builds that have turned out quite well, one(in a full size 4x4) still being beaten on by some kid ten years later.

I know what I want to do...I'm just trying to find out it's feasibility i.e. do the parts exist?

I do NOT NEED to flow 1000cfm...I stated that in an earlier post...I basically picked that out from seeing a brand of sensors that did offer that in another application. So I'm basically asking if that is available in the L98 MAF configuration...If it is, it will more than meet my needs...

I understand them as they apply to carburetors. It is basically how fast a given engine breathes in one minute measured in cubic feet.

I am trying to figure out what I may need for several engine build plans.

There is always the "wild-wish I could do this" build.

There is always the "budget" build.

There is the "I might be able to pull this off" build.

And last but not least, there is the "I did the best I could with the available Money" build.

I have engine and chassis building software and I am learning about EFI and Superchargers. As I read, I have questions so I ask.

For any of these builds, parts have to be available or it will just be theory. To me that's a waste of my time.

Whatever I come up with to use on this program...I need it to be real world.

I have asked about the availability of this MAF sensor so I will know if I must go with a different type of EFI.

I'm not real good at that...especially when you have to make the pictures tiny and all that...I have a hard time getting the pics from the phone or camera to the puter then to get them anywhere else is sheer torture...I tried getting some off a disk I made but it gave me a bunch of bs and I said screw it til another day...

You know, I can build these things really well, but I can hardly get to the net once their running...

I'll get it done...I promise

I guess it is because in the books I am presently reading about the Chevy's TPI, they keep bringing up the point of restrictive MAF sensors and the need to flow more than the stock one allows. If I read correctly the stock piece(tube with sensor) flows about 525-550 CFM.

Now a reasonably modified engine is going to need more airflow than that.
I don't NEED 1000 CFM but I'm thinking in the end I may need about 850 or so.

This is my first experience with EFI and I am on a learning curve.

I am trying to figure out when and where to spend my money so that when I do an engine build for this car in the future(year or so), I'll have some of the right parts already in place. On the other hand, I may see that I need to change the whole fuel system for the build.

If I ask now, I can save headache or wallet ache in the future.

Awesome...thanks guys....is there anything else I'll need?

Is there a picture and or measurements of the needed brackets?

This definitely sounds like the way to go...

Will they fit with the stock wheels from 96?

I gotta get some pics of my car...

Did you buy a kit or put the parts together yourself?

I saw on another forum where a guy had ordered all the parts separately from different places(each place = best price) and did the whole thing for around $400.00 U.S.

He ended up with essentially the same parts as the kits...be darned if I can remember which forum though...I ask because that is on my hunny dew list for my Black Beauty this month...

I am in Nesquehoning, an old tiny little coal mining town, now home to KME one of the world leaders in Firefighting apparatus manufacture.

Nesquehoning means narrow valley in Mohawk or Algonquin...it is in Carbon County 4 miles from the County Seat....which is Jim Thorpe PA a Mountain Bike/ Whitewater Rafting/Paintball Mecca in the East.

The mountains, streams, and lakes make it a beautiful place to do anything winter or summer related.
We have some of the best Motorcycle roads, trout fishing, auto racing, hunting....well you get the picture...I'll always love "The Burgh" but I'll never move away from here.

It is about 25 miles from Tannersville as the crow flies.

I was thinking about replacing my interior trim since it is very dull and looks like crap...that is until I saw how much it costs....ARE THEY CRAZY???? That much for a piece of plastic??? And I DO know plastic...

Sooo, I started fooling around with Mothers Aluminum Mag Polish and lo and behold...my trim(after a few hours of some tedious elbow greasing....looks brand new...I'll see how long it lasts and maybe I won't need to clear coat it.

If it isn't broken, I'm not buying it at these prices...

There is a Company called E.A.R. that makes world class noise/heat reduction solutions.

They are a factory and only sell in mega-quantities but if you email them they will put you in touch with one of their distributors.

This stuff is pricey but let me tell you...there is nothing better. It is self adhesive and very pliablewhen you use the right grade.

I've done a Lifted 1991 Ford Ranger 4x4 with A/T tires and it was as quiet as my in-laws' Grand Marquis...

I also did a Lifted 1996 Grand Cherokee with Mud Tires on it and it is like a funeral home inside.

Their website is: http://www.earsc.com

I have collected all my leftover scraps and plan to do my Vette this year...I'll do all the inside body panels...doors, floors, firewall and some of the hood. Use duct tape to seal the seams and edges.

Ummm....actually, among true audiophiles...Bose is one of the most laughed at and despised makers of audio gear.

The best thing they ever made was the first three series of 901 speakers...they've been riding that ever since. Everything since has been pretty crappy...

Take the WAVE just for instance...that gem which they are charging about 700.00 too much for is based on technology that you could find in any movie theater...back in the 1930's.

Their systems of today are so lacking in true sound definition
that there is a saying....if you don't notice the highs and you can't hear the lows, your listening to something made by Bose...

Just because something is popular doesn't mean it's quality.
Especially in audio...

I will add some things to this...

1. Make sure ALL of your chemicals of the wet variety are from the SAME manufacturer...each company has their own special formulas that work best together...

2. Painting is not rocket science....anyone can do it well if you are willing to follow the manufacturers' direction and do a few tests on unimportant pieces

3. If you are painting small items, you may want to check out the SATA Minijet guns...they are the best IMO...and they won't cost much more than some other brands full size guns...I paint Motorcycles with these and they produce flawless results...

4, Play with whatever gun(s) you get until you feel comfortable with them...I'm not kidding about this...take your time...until completely comfortable that you are getting the results you will desire on your important stuff...

5. If you are strapped for money but still want nice results...go with DuPont...they have a great selection of colors and it is very easy to paint with...read forgiving...

6. Do not sand metallic paint...once you've sprayed it...remove it and start over...make sure you mix it well and keep it agitated...don't let it sit in the cup...

7. Before you paint....especially if you are doing irregular shaped objects....figure out your spraying sequence before you shoot it...some like to go around edges first... some do all angles corners first some paint top to bottom some go from the bottom up...just plan it it beforehand...

Well I belong to I guess "some" of the "other forums" and I like them just fine...but when I fell in here from cyberspace and started looking around...it was kind of like "skipping the smalltalk" and the "fingerfood" and getting right to the meat and potatoes...

Now I like to barbecue my own food over real wood coals and once it's time to eat I'm not wasting time on any nouveau greenbean almondine crapola...gimme my ribs, coleslaw, some kind of taters(baked or mashed), a beer, and don't get your hands close to me lest you lose them in my wood chipper of a mouth...

That's what this place feels like already...a backyard full of new friends...

Thank you kindly for the welcomes one and all...

I'll get a pic on soon...

Well, in the process of google searching something else, I found this forum....I am absolutely elated...this is a very cool site with tons of 'real life' info...I've been reading posts for 2 days and I'm just amazed at how helpful everyone seems to be...

I have a Black 85 Coupe that I got for a good price...it needs lots of tlc but with all the info here I think it will be much easier...

I'm JeepCycle and I am an experienced Painter/Welder/Mechanic and I'm a Stereo geek....so if I can help anyone don't hesitate to call me out...In the meantime...I'm going to make like a sponge and suck up all the info I can here...

Cheers,
