And they all had to admit that I have the nicest rear end in the shop.... I scored a vintage Frankland quick-change rear end Wednesday night. It will be used in my '30 A Tudor hot rod. It all looks to be in good shape, the ring and pinion gears (4.86), bearings and etc. and it's complete out to the wide-five aluminum 12" hub/drum assemblies. It's also a floating axle unit, having been used previously in a dirt track car many, many years ago, a fact attested to by the layer of that sticky (read: good for traction!) NC red clay that I had to clean off of it. By changing the spur gears, I can have any ratio I want in a matter of minutes, from a 2.16 to a 10.94. (The latter being useful if I decide to use the Model A for a tractor!)
I'll be out of the shop until next week now but will try to get some pics up then, along with the mock-up pictures of my flat-head Plymouth engine as well.
Oh, the price paid? My buddy said that if he ever breaks the 8" in his 440 powered MGB, then I have to give him one of my 9" rears. Dammit....

It ain't the first time! Back in the 80s, I "did it in the dirt" every Saturday night for a few seasons.
